Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. Events include Harvest Train festivities at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Thomas the Tank Engine and steam train rides in Virginia City, the first-ever Gandy Dance in Dayton, October Ghost Walk Tours through downtown Carson City and more!

Carson Tahoe Health's annual Spooktacular event is on Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 1600 Medical Parkway.

Heading into Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 and we're looking at continued sunshine and cool temperatures, with some warming in time for the weekend. Activities ahead around the capital city feature a workshop by Carson City TRIAD to prepare residents for Medicare open enrollment, a Muscle Powered led afternoon hike at Sedge Road, the grand opening of My Place Hotel, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. Through the month of October, Michael Hohl Motor Company in Carson City will collect pet food donations to fill a pickup truck with pet food to support Pets of the Homeless. The dealership will donate all supplies to Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, rural northern Nevada’s largest social services program.

CARSON CITY — GreenUP!, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides environmental education to businesses announced that Nevada Day commemorative cups are now on sale for $10 at the Nevada Day store located at 716 N. Carson Street.

More than 50 animal shelters and rescue groups participated in Nevada’s large free pet adoption event, Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days. It was organized by Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, a three-year campaign aimed at helping more homeless cats and dogs find good homes and creating a safety net for pets by improving access to veterinary care in the Silver State.

Vandals struck the Northridge area sometime on Saturday night throwing eggs at vehicles, including two belonging to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

When the families and friends of Lyfe Recovery clients were introduced to the facility, they were sold on the idea that their loved ones would be in a supervised sober environment to help them beat their addictions. However, what Lyfe Recovery turned out to be was a shell, barely meeting the minimum requirements. Unfortunately, for Joe Tummarello, the minimum for his own needs weren’t met during his time at the Carson City based sober-living facility, which allegedly contributed to his death.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY: The Carson City Sheriff's Office extends its thanks to the public in helping to locate the vehicle burglary suspect from July 7, 2019 on Mina Way. The suspect has been positively identified and pending charges of vehicle burglary, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 28-year-old Reno man who was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Spanish Springs.

Two Carson City men were arrested early Thursday morning on Tiger Drive after allegedly beating a man with a baseball bat in front of his toddler during a robbery.

Jose Rivera, 25, and Brandon Sanchez, 21, were arrested after dispatch received a call of a home invasion burglary in progress.

Members of the Nevada Gourd Society have a wonderful display of gourd art in the Carson City Library. The local group is known as the Great Basin Gourd Patch meet monthly in the Johnson Lane area to share and learn techniques used on gourds. The exhibit in the library will be on display until the end of August. You don’t want to miss all this art!
