Carson City man arrested after attempting to outrun deputies on BMX bike

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested on a violation of suspended sentence warrant after attempting to outrun deputies on a BMX bicycle.

According to the arrest report, the man was arrested just before 10 p.m. on Friday night in the area of N. Carson Street and Bath Street.

Deputies were patrolling in the area when they recognized the man from previous law enforcement interactions and knew he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Deputies pulled up alongside the man who was pedaling north bound on N. Carson Street on a BMX bicycle. Deputies told the man to stop the bicycle.

The man said, “I’m making a left turn here, sir,” and began pedaling faster to gain speed before quickly turning west onto Bath Street.

Deputies activated their emergency lights and advised dispatch they were in pursuit.

The man quickly turned into a motel parking lot, jumped off the bicycle and ran into a room.

While deputies waited for back up to arrive, a few minutes later the man opened the door of the room and came out peacefully with his hands up.

He was taken into custody without incident on the Carson City Justice Court Warrant issued for violation of a suspended sentence.

Bail: $1,000 cash only

— A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 500 block of E. William Street Friday night for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two outside agency warrants from Douglas County.

Nicole Marie Nigra was arrested after deputies were patrolling in the area and noticed a vehicle driving on N. Stewart Street without a rear license plate.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, and the passenger who was identified as Nigra.

The vehicle had a temporary moving permit on the front windshield, but it had expired.

Dispatch advised that Nigra had two confirmed warrants out of East Fork Justice Court, one a felony warrant with a bail of $25,000 and the second a misdemeanor with a bail of $640.

Nigra was taken into custody. While searching the vehicle, which was registered to Nigra, deputies located a bag inside Nigra’s purse which contained two methamphetamine pipes and a plastic container which appeared to contain methamphetamine, and a black scale with white residue on it.

Nigra was taken into custody without issue.

While in custody, jail staff advised they had located additional narcotics in Nigra’s property. She had a blue metal container with a plastic baggy inside which contained a mixture of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Bail: $29,277

— A 57-year-old transient man was arrested in the 600 block of S. Carson Street for possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of pretrial supervision conditions.

According to the arrest report, at around 4:40 p.m. on Friday deputies observed a vehicle that appeared to have crashed into a S. Carson Street parking lot.

The vehicle then drove out of the parking lot and back onto E. 7th Street, at which point deputies had the vehicle pull back into the parking lot to make contact with the driver.

A trail of fluid could be seen on E. 7th Street going into the parking lot and leading to the engine compartment of the vehicle.

Deputies made contact with the driver who identified himself and told deputies he did not have a driver’s license, and he did not have insurance or registration.

Deputies asked if he had crashed into the parking lot, and he said he had pulled up to a water spigot to put water in the vehicle’s radiator since it was overheating.

Deputies ran the vehicle’s license plate, and dispatch advised that the plates returned to a dodge pickup truck, not a Subaru, and that the license plates were fictitious.

Alternative Sentencing officers arrived on scene and advised that the man is on alternative sentencing with a search and seizure clause.

Inside the vehicle, alternative sentencing officers located a methamphetamine pipe inside an open gas can in the front passenger seat.

Deputies also located a baggie on the floor with a very small amount of substance inside which tested positive for methamphetamine.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Bail: $4,137; $3,000 cash only
