Casino Fandango, the largest casino in Carson City, opened its doors at 8 a.m. today. As announced by Gov. Steve Sisolak, Phase 2 of Nevada's Roadmap to Recovery allows gaming to resume Thursday.

Nevada's economy was one of the most affected in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic; the initial reopening of Casino Fandango means that over 350 team members are able to go back to work and provide for their families.

The community theatre companies in Carson City and Douglas County, along with our local performance venues, have created a coalition with the goal of navigating the challenges specific to our local theatre community brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the current climate of business closures, Casino Fandango has created a way to connect with, and lift the spirits of patrons with a free virtual game for Players Club members as well as the general public to play each week.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space announced March 18 its update on office and staffing changes, facility closures and program cancelations and postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CARSON CITY — Comedy thru the Ages, the 2020 production of the Carson Follies, is seeking actors, dancers, singers and stage personnel for its upcoming show July 10-12. Auditions will be held Thursday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive in Carson City.

Celebrate 135 years at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, Nev. on Friday, March 6. Piper’s Opera House bravely opened for the third time in 1885 after burning to the ground twice before. Never has there been a gathering space in Virginia City for events such as melodramatic theater, political rallies, boxing matches, roller skating, and elegant balls.

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will present the first of four “LatinXpressions” concerts on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. Students from Wild Horse Children's Theater in Carson City won a Freddie G Excellence in Music national theater award and earned recognition at the 2020 Junior Theater Festival West, which happened Feb. 7-9, 2020 at Wells Fargo Pavilion.
