JoAnne Skelly: Thinking of Spring? Try your blossoms indoors

My friend Sarah suggested I write about forcing blossoms indoors since we are all anxiously awaiting spring color to arrive on trees and shrubs. Forcing blossoms gives us a lovely spring preview. The idea is to cut finger-sized non-essential branches of spring-flowering trees and shrubs, stick them in a vase of water indoors and wait for blossoms to open.

Taz is a 3 and a half year old Labrador mix and he is currently searching for his forever family!

Taz would prefer an adult only home, and to be the only dog. What can we say, he knows what he wants, and he wants to hog the attention!

Nevada cruise ship passengers being evaluated for coronavirus

Carson City, NV – Forty Nevadans who were passengers on the Grand Princess cruise ship are being contacted by health authorities to assess their health and any symptoms that may be consistent with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The passengers disembarked from the ship on Feb. 21.

The case that was announced as a presumptive positive through the Washoe County Health District was a passenger on the ship which also included passengers from other states who have since tested positive for COVID-19.

Carson City homeless benefit with Tom Petty, Rod Stewart tribute bands, WNC fundraising dinner, wine walk, 'Frozen 2' screening at Carson Mall highlight weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Carson City arrests: Man jailed after altercation over purchase of shrimp, cheese and vodka

A 62-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of battery and a contempt of court warrant after an altercation with a grocery store employee, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Tom Petty, Rod Stewart tribute shows to headline homeless fundraiser at Carson's Fuji Park

The Michael Furlong Band will rock the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City at "A Face in the Crowd," a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute show this Saturday night, March 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the band will keep Tom Petty fans on the dance floor until the show wraps up at 10 p.m.

Nevada State Fair held at Mills Park June 4 - 7

We’re bringing back the Home & Garden Show in the Pavilion.

CARSON CITY — Comedy thru the Ages, the 2020 production of the Carson Follies, is seeking actors, dancers, singers and stage personnel for its upcoming show July 10-12. Auditions will be held Thursday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive in Carson City.

Carson City community radio KNVC 95.1 continues to grow as it enters third year on the air

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.
