With a strong cold front pushing into the region that will bring gusty winds and low humidity over the next two days, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for northern and western Nevada and Lake Tahoe region. Weather conditions will be especially dangerous along the 395 corridor from Susanville to Mammoth Lakes.

Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, will host a National Public Lands Day (NPLD) event on Saturday, September 28, 2019. At this event volunteers will participate in a cleanup at the Grimes Point Archaeological Area approximately 10 east of Fallon, Nevada. Lunch will be provided.

Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.
