With the weather reaching the mid-80s, now is the perfect time to get out and explore during a jam-packed three days around the Carson City region. Friday has plenty of events to get you to the weekend.

Hello Carson City as we head into Thursday, June 6, 2019. Activities, art and entertainment abound as we get closer to the weekend. There's the kickoff of two main events, the Nevada State Fair at Mills Park and the Spring Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davidson. There's also a morning hike, art showings, an end of school year celebration with live music at Living the Good Life, and the Thursday night Cruise that begins at Vino's Pizza. Read on for more.

Hello Carson City as we welcome Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Events and activities abound, from yoga, walks and a bike ride, to art showings and a jewelry making class. There's an exquisite paella and olive oil show at Bleu Café featuring world renown chef Don Pepe, and a viewing of the classic film "High Noon" with the legendary Gary Cooper at the Brewery Arts Center. Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. The annual Camp Carson program for kindergarten through 6th grade children through Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is now open for registration with camp beginning June 17.

Hello Carson City and a warm welcome back from the Memorial Day weekend. Heading into Tuesday, May 28, 2019 there's sunshine in our midst or so says weather forecasters. We're looking at highs in the upper 60s. On tap for the day we have morning and evening walks, a bicycle ride for ladies, an archery shoot at Centennial Park, a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser in Gardnerville to support Special Olympics, a meeting of the Carson City school board and more.

The conditions at Spooner Lake this week will be cold and wet so we are moving Thursday's hike "down to the valley" and will be hiking at Centennial Park on the Wild Horse Trail. This trail starts behind the ballfields at Centennial Park. Drive all the way to the back of ballfields on Heritage Way where the trail starts. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended.

Heading into Memorial Day, May 27, 2019, we urge all to take time out of your day to honor those who served and died defending our country. Memorial Day is the day we celebrate those men and women who passed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. There are events Monday in Carson City at the Stewart Indian School Cemetery and at Lone Mountain Cemetery and in Fernley at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial Day weekend is the kick off for the summer, and traditionally it is a very busy weekend on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Forest visitors can enjoy biking, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, and many more recreations activities this summer.

As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.
