The Nevada Highway Patrol, along with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, will be closing State Route 207 (Kingsbury Grade) between Tramway Drive and Foothill Road on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for follow-up investigation.

Please utilize alternate routes during this time.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office joined forces with the Nevada Highway Patrol between April 12 and April 22 to educate the motoring public on distracted driving. The primary emphasis was to focus on drivers not using hands-free devices while driving.

A 71-year-old Winnemucca resident has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol as the victim of a crash that happened Wednesday, April 10 on Interstate 80 between Fernley and Lovelock in Churchill County.

A 35-year-old California man was arrested in the 3300 block of Highway 50 Friday afternoon for a felony failure to appear warrant out of Washoe County, and resisting a public officer after attempting to run from Nevada Highway Patrol troopers, and Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies.

The Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and NHP were called Wednesday afternoon to the area of Highway 50 East and Frontier Drive for a crash involving two vehicles. Minutes later another crash was reported in the area of Roop and Hot Springs.

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday night in the 1000 block of South Roop Street for suspicion of gross misdemeanor child neglect and endangerment after his two toddlers were discovered wandering outside late at night without any supervision.

The Nevada Highway Patrol conducted a sobriety checkpoint at Clear Acre Lane and Scottsdale Road from Saturday night into early Sunday morning, 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. During that time, troopers contacted 1,247 motorists that traveled through the checkpoint.

The Nevada Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the greater Reno area beginning Saturday evening. The checkpoint is from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

A Carson City woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal motor vehicle accident that happened early Friday morning on I-580 in Washoe County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 1:22PM: The truck is now being assessed by East Fork Fire and has been taken back to the Douglas County Transfer Station where it had originally left from, officials said. The Nevada National Guard Civil Support Team is conducting a Hazmat assessment at the Douglas County Transfer Station, which is now closed indefinitely. There are no reported injuries at this time. Highway 395 is now open in both directions.

UPDATE 12:35PM: The scene has been declared safe and the roadway has been reopened in both directions, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol via Twitter. There is no longer a hazmat situation.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were at the scene of a potential hazmat situation late Tuesday morning south of Carson City in Douglas County.

CARSON CITY — Over the next several months, the Nevada Highway Patrol will be increasing its enforcement efforts of the “Move Over Law” throughout the state. While NHP continues to conduct traffic stops on a daily basis for a multitude of violations, the focus during this period is this important law that is frequently ignored by motorists.

A 57 year-old Carson City man has been identified as the fatality in Thursday night's multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 just south of the Galena Creek Bridge.

Philip Dale Hatley of Carson City was killed after he had exited his vehicle and was struck by another that had lost control on the freeway.

UPDATE 8:40PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol reports one lane of northbound I-580 is now open north of the Bowers Mansion exit. Traffic is moving slowly past the scene of the fatal crash. NHP urges motorists to watch for first responders and drive with extreme caution.

UPDATE 8:06PM: Nevada Highway Patrol troopers remain on scene Thursday night at the fatal crash on the Galena Bridge. There are approximately 10-15 vehicles involved with one confirmed fatality. There is not an estimated time for reopening northbound I-580. NHP advises motorists to use alternate routes.

Northbound Interstate 580 at mile marker 12 in Washoe County near the Galena Bridge is closed Thursday night due to a fatal crash at the Bowers Mansion exit, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 40-year-old Lyon County man who died in a Friday, Feb. 8 vehicle crash that happened on Highway 50 in Silver Springs.

Carson City firefighter-paramedics were initially called to assist with a two-vehicle rollover accident that occurred Monday afternoon in the southbound lanes of Interstate 580 at the Bellevue overpass in Washoe Valley.

However, the Carson City units were recalled while en route. There is no extrication at the scene of the accident, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District rescuers on scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol, Truckee Meadows Fire and REMSA are currently on scene working the accident. No word yet on the extent of any injuries.

The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash very early Friday morning that resulted in one person dead and another critically injured.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Wellington, Nev. man who died in a three-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning on I-580 south of Moana Lane in Reno.

A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony drug charges including suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine and possession with intent to sell, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in locating the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that happened Monday in Reno.

On Saturday December 15th, 2018 at approximately 6:20 AM, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on US-395 northbound near the Cradlebaugh Bridge, north of Stephanie Way in Douglas County.

UPDATE: 3:30PM: NHP continues to investigate a fatal pedestrian versus vehicle crash Saturday morning that claimed the life of the pedestrian.
According to NHP, the pedestrian was walking on the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 395 near the Cradlebaugh Bridge north of Minden when struck by the vehicle.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at scene by medical personnel, NHP said.
Alcohol, drugs or speed do not seem to be a factor in the crash, NHP said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has named the suspect in Saturday's stolen vehicle pursuit that started in Carson City and ended with a crash near the Galena Bridge on Interstate 580 in Washoe County.

UPDATE SUNDAY: A man was arrested Saturday night in the North Valley area of Washoe County by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and a Carson City sheriff's sergeant following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that began in Carson City, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. The Carson City suspect, now in Washoe County custody, was arrested at around 8:30 p.m.

According to Furlong, CCSO scaled back its pursuit once it crossed the county line but followed the suspect vehicle through Washoe Valley. The vehicle crashed and the suspect attempted to flee but was caught by arriving CCSO and NHP officers. The suspect faces charges related to the pursuit, driving a stolen vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm, said Furlong.

An attempted traffic stop on a vehicle identified as stolen out of Sparks turned into a failure to yield and a pursuit by Carson City Sheriff's deputies into Washoe Valley Saturday night.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called to a crash involving two vehicles on Highway 50 East near the Lyon County line and the V&T bridge as well as a motorcycle crash on Musser Street.

Nevada Highway Patrol, along with Tahoe Douglas Fire Carson City Fire Department and Care Flight responded Sunday morning to vehicle accidents west of Carson City along Highway 50 up Spooner.

UPDATE: 12:45PM: The pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning at U.S. Highway 50 East and Airport Road has died, the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) Northern Command reported on Twitter.
No other details about the crash are available at this time as NHP continues its investigation of the incident.
