A two vehicle crash Saturday morning on South Carson Street at the intersection of Koontz Lane has claimed the life of an 81-year-old Carson City resident, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The Nevada Highway Patrol attempted to pull over a vehicle in Carson City Thursday night, but the driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase until the car crashed in the El Dorado County portion of the South Shore, over 35 miles away.

A 45 year-old man was taken into custody Thursday evening at 5:53 p.m. at a business in the 900 block of South Carson Street after being found in possession of a controlled substance, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
