Carson City Fire Department was dispatched late this morning to a single-vehicle accident involving a moped rider in the 1900 block of College Parkway.

The adult female rider was said to have possibly fractured her ankle in the accident, reported to dispatch at 11:23 a.m. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were re-routing traffic around the scene.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, according to deputies on the scene.

Carson City Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a traffic accident at Robinson and Stewart streets. At least one person was seriously injured in the crash in which Care Flight has been ordered.

Firefighters had to extricate of one of the victims. Arriving personnel reported the vehicles had major damage. The landing zone for Care Flight was going to be the Carson Nugget parking lot.

The crash was reported at 3:13 p.m.

Two people were injured Tuesday afternoon after their SUV rolled about 200 feet off the edge of a cliff around the snow line at Ash Canyon, Carson City Fire Department Chief Stacey Giomi confirmed.

A NAS helicopter from Fallon arrived to the scene and successfully airlifted the two out of the canyon and placed them on awaiting Care Flight helicopters. NAS was called as the helicopters it operates are able to navigate tight spaces. The NAS helicopter rappelled two rescuers from the air to get to the victims, Assistant Fire Chief Tom Tarulli said.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Friday morning to a motorcycle crash involving two bikes in the 2700 block of Carson Street. The riders were not seriously injured, according to emergency crews on scene.

Carson City Fire Department and ambulance responded this morning to a pedestrian accident involving a vehicle in the area of College Parkway and Carson Street near the entrance to the old K-Mart.

The call came into dispatch at 10:29 a.m. The victim was reported to be in the street, conscious, speaking and blood coming from his head.

Traffic was being re-routed around the accident scene. More information as it becomes available.

Carson City Fire Department responded to two motor vehicles accidents Friday morning. One was in the northbound lane in the 2700 block of Carson Street and the other was in the intersection of Carson and Clearview involving a street sweeper.

At least one person was injured in the first accident, reported at 7:44 a.m. at Frontage Road and Sonoma streets and was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Carson City Fire Department emergency responders ordered two Care Flight helicopters Sunday morning after a two vehicle crash at College Parkway and Northgate. One of two people injured was reported to be pregnant.

The crash was reported at 10:06 a.m. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are re-routing traffic around the accident scene. College Parkway has been shut down at Carson Street.

The condition of the two injured is unknown at this time. Both will be flown to the trauma unit of Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Carson City Fire Department responded Thursday afternoon to a single vehicle accident in the westbound lane of Highway 50 approximately a mile up. First responders report the driver of the vehicle was standing outside of it. Carson City Fire Department reports the driver wasn't injured.

Also responding to the accident were Nevada Highway Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The report came into NHP dispatch at 2:24 and Carson City dispatch at 2:27 p.m.

UPDATE: Central Lyon County Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mark Darragh reports there were no injuries in this afternoon's accident on Highway 50 near Highland. One person was looked over and declined medical treatment, he said.

Lyon County fire and rescue crews, the Carson City Fire Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon at Highway 50 and Highland.

Carson City firefighters and Care Flight responded late Saturday night to the Prison Hill area southeast of Carson City after a 29-year-old man reportedly fell 30 feet.

The man was reported to have a head injury, was bleeding from a laceration, was conscious and awake but not alert.

A man was stopped at around noon Thursday on Arrowhead Drive in Carson City after allegedly driving his truck into mailboxes on Sunrise Drive and then fleeing the scene.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies detained the man after two reports came into dispatch beginning at 11:47 a.m. of a man in a gray pickup hitting mailboxes as he was leaving the scene.

When deputies caught up with the driver on Arrowhead Drive, the vehicle had a flat tire. The Carson City Fire Department was called to evaluate the man. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The pilot of a 1946 Cessna 120 found crashed east of Carson City on Sunday has been identified as Joseph James Miceli, 59, of Wellington, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: One body was found inside a downed airplane Sunday southeast of Carson City near Mexican Dam in the Pinion Hills. Search and rescue crews found the body inside the aircraft at around 5 p.m., said Carson City Undersheriff Steve Albertsen.

Search and rescue crews were dispatched this afternoon after an airplane pilot contacted dispatch to report seeing an aircraft past the power lines in the Sierra Vista Lane area. A RAVEN helicopter was dispatched to aid in the search but was canceled after the Search and Rescue crews made it to the airplane and discovered the body.

Care Flight was called and Carson City Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Musser and Stewart streets late Friday afternoon.

The accident, reported at 4:50 p.m. was said to be a t-bone between the two vehicles with air bag deployment and serious injuries to at least one person, according to Carson City dispatch.

The Carson City Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the Spring Citizen Fire Academy beginning April 2, 2014 and meeting weekly on Wednesday's until May 21, 2014.

Applications can be found at the Carson City Fire Department on Stewart Street or the Carson City Fire Deaprtment website here; all applications must be turned in by Monday, March 31, 2014.

The Carson City Fire Department will allow open burning March 15 to April 6, 2014. The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.

The driver of a car collided with the rear end of school bus late Friday morning near the intersection of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane. The bus didn't have any children inside.

The driver of the car was taken by ambulance to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Lopez. She was issued a citation for the crash. The driver of the bus was not injured.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi reports the powdery substance found in a package on the second floor of the Nevada Supreme Court Building on Thursday is non-hazardous.

He said the two office workers who were isolated have not displayed any symptoms associated with poisoning. As soon as the fire department completes its investigation the matter will be turned over to law enforcement.

The substance was sent inside a letter package and claimed to be anthrax, authorities said.

The Carson City Fire Department has filled an upcoming vacancy by promoting from within. Captain Bob Schreihans has been named the Department’s Chief of Emergency Medical Services and Training.

Battalion Chief Schreihans replaces retiring Battalion Chief Eric Bero.

UPDATE: The aircraft that landed and flipped early Sunday afternoon at the Carson City Airport was a single-engine Cessna 185. The pilot was not injured, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Bero.

"There were no flames, no fuel leaks and all the safety systems did their job," said Bero. The incident was report to Carson City dispatch at around 12:05 p.m.

A 46-year-old transient was arrested early Thursday morning in the 500 block of North Stewart Street in Carson City.

The man faces a misdemeanor charge of destruction of property after allegedly throwing a rock through a window of an apartment after being asked to leave because he was too intoxicated, according to the arrest report.

UPDATE: An accident was reported at 5:01 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 395 at Highway 50. NHP reports no serious injuries.

UPDATE: Southbound traffic at Hot Springs and Roop in Carson City is closed due to several spinouts as of 3:26 p.m. Traffic is backed up in the area, with snowplows and sanders making their way to clear the road.

An accident reported at I-580 and Eastlake is causing traffic problems extending into the Washoe Valley and old Highway 395, according to NHP. The freeway was closed briefly. Both lanes are now open as of 3:38 p.m.

The Carson City Fire Department responded Tuesday night to three accidents, two in the southbound lane of Carson Street and Old Clear Creek Road, reported at 5:23 p.m. with one being a chain-reaction rear-ender.

A third vehicle accident was reported at 5:27 p.m. at the intersection of Carson and Robinson streets. Paramedics were called to the scene because one of those involved in the accident is 34 weeks pregnant, according to dispatchers. She wasn't injured but it was requested she be checked out.

A male pedestrian was stuck by a vehicle, reported at around 5:38 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of Highway 50 and Airport Road in Carson City. A Care Flight air ambulance was dispatched and will land at the nearby Carson City Fire Department Training Center.

The Carson City Fire Department was called to a brush fire Thursday night in the area of Pheasant and Fairview. The fire was reported by several 911 callers. It was knocked down within minutes before it reached any structures.

The call came into dispatch at 8:26 p.m.

After 18 months of planning, a new high tech LED welcoming sign stationed in front of the Carson City Community Center was unveiled Wednesday.

The $100,000 message board not only gives a refreshing welcome as motorists drive along William Street, but provides key information about events and happenings throughout Carson City.

The Carson City Community Center is getting new signage thanks to the efforts of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and other partners that have worked with the city to obtain much need modern signage in front of the Community Center.

As most of the city private businesses have gone to LED signage, the 50-year old sign in front of the Community Center has remained a relic. Staff had to use a ladder to change the message. Beginning Wednesday, all it will take is a computer programmer to change the messages.

UPDATE: The southbound lane of I-580 at Arrowhead in Carson City was opened at 9:35 p.m. after a three-vehicle injury accident Saturday night.

UPDATE: As of 8:36 p.m. Those working the scene of an accident on the Carson City Freeway say it will be at least 30 minutes before the southbound lane is open. Emergency crews responded to a 3-vehicle crash with injuries Saturday, first reported to Carson City dispatch at 7:36 p.m.

The window for open burning of yard debris in Carson City by permit will be from Oct. 19 to Nov. 17, fire officials said Monday.

The Carson City Fire Department allows the open burn period as a way to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris. In order to make this a safe endeavor for those involved, the fire department requires burn permits with a valid permit number before burning will be allowed. Permits must be obtained no less than 24 hrs prior to conducting an open burn.
