Carson City arrests: Man jailed for battery on officers; pair arrested for possessing stolen vehicle
Two men were arrested Tuesday in the 1800 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Taken into custody were David Warren Lehew, 48, and John Michael Taylor, age not given. Both are transients. According to the arrest report, a deputy observed two men attempting to push a Volkswagen sedan out of the roadway on north Carson Street and into the parking lot of the Warren Inn.
The deputy asked the men if they were having trouble and they said the engine had stopped and they were attempting to push the vehicle out of the roadway. Dispatch then advised that the Volkswagen’s registration returned as a stolen vehicle.
The men were detained and read their Miranda rights separately. Lehew told the deputy he was picked up in the car by a “JT” at a Stateline on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Taylor told deputies it was Lehew that picked him up at the casino. The men were arrested at 11:51 p.m. Bail: $10,000 each.

A 29-year-old El Dorado Hills, Calif., man, Kenneth Allen Goss, was arrested Tuesday, 1:49 a.m. in the 700 block of South Carson Street for felony suspicion of battery by a prisoner, and two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants for traffic citations.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a consensual stop after seeing 5 subjects in a circle behind a convenience story. Goss provided the deputy with an identification card that showed he had two warrant out of Douglas County, Tahoe Township, for failure to appear. He was taken into custody for the warrants. In the patrol vehicle the man attempted to spit on the deputy from the backseat and at jail, he kicked a jail deputy on his right shin. Bail: $21,541.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 12:47 p.m. in the area of College Parkway and I-580 for a misdemeanor contempt of court arrest warrant, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $2,374.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for felony suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Caleb Anthony Petty was taken into custody in the 3600 block of Desatoya Drive at 5:08 p.m.
According to the arrest report, the man allegedly threw a knife at his caretaker. The knife handle hit the caretaker who then subdued him. In the process the suspect allegedly bit the caretaker. Bail: $30,000.
— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was booked into Carson City jail on Monday, 10:10 a.m. for a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,000.
– A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 7:19 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies her boyfriend was intoxicated and punched her on the side of the face. The officer could see obviously bruising to the right side of her face around the eye area. The man was contacted, became cooperative and was arrested. Bail: $3,137.
