Carson City arrest: Man jailed for eluding, resisting, alleged heroin possession and warrants

A 34-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of eluding, resisting, warrants and suspected possession of heroin, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Jessie Lee Rumminger, listed as a transient, was taken into custody just after 2 p.m. for suspicion of multiple offenses and two warrants after eluding deputies during a pursuit.

According to the arrest report, deputies were advised the man had two active warrants and was hiding in the area of Pratt Avenue. Deputies began to search the area. It was advised Rumminger had caution alerts for being an ex-felon in possession of firearms and obstructing.

A deputy located the suspect driving his truck and attempted to stop him, but he eluded the deputy, going through several neighborhoods. The man was located later on Country Village Drive, where he continued to elude deputies.

Another deputy located the man behind an apartment complex and ordered him out of his truck. The man ignored the commands and attempted to flee, maneuvering the vehicle in an alleyway, the report states.

Deputies eventually were able to approach the vehicle and pulled him out it. The suspect fought and resisted deputies, trying to pull free and was struck in the process to gain control of the situation, the report states. He was put into handcuffs, and screaming loudly during the incident. He was checked by paramedics for injuries and taken to jail.

An inventory of the man's truck was done for towing purposes, where officer located .4 grams of heroin, hypodermic devices and other drug paraphernalia on the front passenger seat of the vehicle, the report states.

He was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and the following misdemeanors: Eluding, resisting, drug paraphernalia and warrants for failure to appear and violation of bail conditions. Total bail amount listed: $8,186.

In other arrests:
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and violation of alternative sentencing. According to the arrest report, deputies investigated a domestic battery call at a residence and spoke with the suspect and victim.

Injuries on the victim were documented which showed a cut lip, scratch marks on the face and cheek and bruises on the wrist. The victim told officers that she and the man were arguing, but that it was not physical and that the injuries happened after she tripped and fell on a TV tray, according to the report. Officers determined the man was the primary aggressor. He was arrested at 1:33 p.m. Bail: $4,1,37.

— A 62-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the area of Carmine Drive and Lompa Lane for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant and other offenses.

According to the arrest report, a deputy checked a license plate on a vehicle that came back suspended. The officer conducted a traffic stop the man provided a Nevada ID card, the registration tag as well as insurance card. All returned suspended.

The deputy was advised he had a bench warrant out of Carson City Justice Court. He was arrested for the warrant, driving with suspended registration, no proof of insurance, a no valid driver's license. Bail: $4,041.

— A 44-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday in the area of Roop and Beverly Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, basic speeding and driving with a suspended license.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling 43 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. A deputy made contact, ran their name through dispatch, which advised a confirmed failure to appear traffic citation. Dispatch advised the driver's license was suspended. Total bail amount listed: $994.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.

In collaboration with Chartwells, the Carson City School District foodservice partner, Culinary Arts students from Ms. Tammy Borreman’s class at Carson Middle School competed in a “Discovery Kitchen Cook Off.” Similar to a mini version of the Food Network’s Iron Chef, the timed cooking competition featured teams of three students who prepared succulent dishes for a judging panel.
