An 18-year-old Carson City man was jailed Wednesday on felony suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation and false imprisonment, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Connor J. Jurosovich was arrested at 12:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Coffey Drive. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He’s being held on $36,874 bail.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to the residence in reference to a domestic battery. On arrival, officers heard a woman screaming “stop hurting me” from the residence. Officers opened a door and found Jurosovich on top of the victim, twisting her arm.

In an interview Jurosovich admitted he and the victim, his girlfriend, were arguing and when she tried to leave he slapped and choked the woman and then pushed her head into a wall, the arrest report states. He told the officer he did all of this because he didn’t want the woman to leave and he was, in fact, physically stopping her from leaving, the report states.

The woman had several marks and injuries on her body, including areas around her neck, the arrest report states. The man’s bedroom also smelled of marijuana and there was a pipe on his headboard. He told officers he had marijuana in his dresser. Officers collected it has evidence. No further information available.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 1800 block of North Carson Street to assist with a traffic stop in which an officer stopped a motorist who was driving without his headlights on. There was an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle but not from the driver. The man denied he had been consuming any type of alcohol and stated the passenger had been drinking in the front seat.

As officers were speaking with the driver, they noticed he grew nervous. Officers asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. The man stated he did not think so, saying it was the passenger’s vehicle. While speaking with the driver, the passenger had attempted to exit the vehicle and was told to stay inside.

Officers made contact with the front seat passenger, who had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. He had red watery eyes ands slurred speech. Officers asked the man if they could search the vehicle with a K9 who is trained to detect controlled substances. The man replied “yes,” the arrest report states.

The man stepped out of the vehicle and a pat search was done, in which the man told the officer the search was disrespectful and that he served his country. When the pat search was conducted in the right upper portion of his leather jacket, officers found a handgun. The officer asked the man if he had a gun. The man would not answered. The officer grabbed the man’s hands and placed them in handcuffs and then removed a 9mm Glock handgun with a magazine.

He was placed in the back of the vehicle, where he began to yell at the officers. He provided a preliminary breath sample of .135. At the detention center he provided two samples that registered .125 and .119. Also found during inventory of the vehicle were two glass pipes and a small amount of marijuana.
