Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on theft and felony drug charge

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and petit larceny after allegedly stealing merchandise from a local business, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Taken into custody at 1:31 p.m. was Tyler Fowlkes, listed as a transient, in the 3200 block of Highway 50 East. According to the arrest report, officers were called to Tractor Supply in the 2000 block of East William Street. Store personnel said that at around 12:35 p.m. two males went into the store, and left with $400 in merchandise without paying. She said the men got into a pickup with Oregon plates.

At 1:13 p.m. a deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the two, one being Tyler Fowlkes. The other male told officer he and Fowlkes had gone into the store but decided not to buy anything and left. He said Fowlkes ran from the store and jumped into the truck and sped away. He said both then went to an address unfamiliar to him and dropped off the items that Fowlkes had allegedly taken from the store, according to the arrest report.

Fowlkes was read his Miranda rights, acknowledged he understood his rights and declined to speak. He was arrested on a charge of petit larceny. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, in which Fowlkes was the registered owner, officers found a glass marijuana pipe, and a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in a black sunglasses case. Bail: $2,500.

In other arrests: A 42-year-old Carson City woman was booked into jail Sunday, 10:50 p.m. on a misdemeanor domestic battery warrant issued Nov. 9, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 41-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Sunday, 10:39 p.m. on misdemeanor battery warrants issued Nov. 9, 2015 out Carson City Justice Court.

— A 21-year-old man was arrested Sunday, 5:08 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanor charges of violation of bail conditions and a failure to appear warrant out of Lyon County. A 28-year-old woman with him was also jailed on a warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Sept. 29, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court.

According to the arrest report, a deputy went to a motel to arrest the woman for the warrant. Inside the motel room, the male suspect was inside where it was learned he had the Lyon County warrant. Both were arrested. At jail, dispatch advised the man was also on Alternative Sentencing for domestic battery with a clause not to have contact with the victim, which was listed as being the 28-year-old woman. Bail for the man, $3,320 and bail for the woman, $1,000.

— A 57-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 8:39 p.m. in the 5200 block of Gentry Lane on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. The woman allegedly hit her husband during an argument on his left buttock, causing a large welt. She admitted to slapping the man on his rear end with her right hand but did not think she struck him very hard, according to the arrest report. Bail: $3,137.

— An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 8:07 p.m. in the area of Wilson Court on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. According to the arrest report, the man allegedly struck a staff member. Bail: $1,137.

— A transient man, age not provided, was arrested Saturday, 5:31 p.m. in the 3700 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor trespassing charge. The man had been told to leave a convenience store three times, after previously being trespassed by three separate managers. Bail: $242.
