Carson City Fire Department called to structure fire at Q's Barbecue on Fairview
UPDATE 8:20AM: Managers at Q's barbecue in Carson City say they hope to be open by Monday following a kitchen fire late Friday night. The restaurant was unoccupied at time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Tom Raw said there wasn't structural damage and the cause is under investigation.
The fire started in the kitchen and damaged some equipment and food outside of the refrigerated walk-in, said Q's manager James Redlark.
There was damage to an outside door window and some smoke damage. He credits Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong for spotting a heavy amount of smoke coming from the exhaust system, and the quick action of Carson City Fire Department for knocking it down before it spread into the dining area.
"We hope to be open by Monday. We'll try," said Redlark.
