Carson City deputies arrest man for suspicion of felony domestic battery
A 35-year-old Washoe Valley man was arrested early Saturday morning for suspicion of felony domestic battery third offense and an outside agency warrant, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.
According to the report, Miles Ray Dodd was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic battery. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who advised her ex-boyfriend had attacked her.
According to the victim, Dodd came to her residence the night before to pick up some of his belongings. Once he gathered his belongings, he left the residence, but a short time later he returned and began knocking on the door loudly, the arrest report states.
The victim stated that she opened the door so it would not cause a scene, and Dodd entered the residence and began insulting her. The victim said they got into a verbal argument, at which point Dodd allegedly punched her in the face, which caused bruising and swelling. Deputies noted fresh bruising and swelling to the victim’s lip.
The victim said she began swinging her arms in self defense, and was able to get away from Dodd and drive to a grocery store to call 911. She said Dodd left the residence riding a yellow bicycle. Deputies located the yellow bicycle in some bushes the apartment complex, and they located Dodd inside the victim’s apartment, the report states.
Dispatch also advised Dodd had a warrant out of Reno. Dodd agreed to speak with deputies and told them he had gone to the residence to pick up some items. He said he began arguing with his ex because she was seeing someone else and would not give him another chance to date her. He said he became upset and attacked, the report states.
Dodd told deputies the victim had cut his right arm with a kitchen knife. Deputies observed what appeared to be a scratch mark on his arm, and questioned Dodd about his honesty. Dodd admitted to not being truthful. When asked for the truth, Dodd gave the same story.
Deputies took him into custody and learned he had two previous domestic battery convictions. He was booked on suspicion of felony domestic battery third offense. No bail on the warrant.

— A 65-year-old Yerington man was arrested for suspicion of DUI first after allegedly driving up behind the assistant sheriff in a parking lot and yelling at him to move his car.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to assist the assistant sheriff with an uncooperative subject. According to the assistant sheriff, he was in a parking lot investigating an unlicensed vehicle when the man pulled up behind the assistant sheriff’s vehicle and became upset and told him to move his vehicle.
The assistant sheriff told the man to go around, at which point the man got out of the vehicle and approached the assistant sheriff, and was observed swaying while standing. The man had blood shot red and watery eyes and slow slurred speech, the report states.
The man spoke with deputies and admitted to drinking in the parking lot. He said he was trying to move his truck to a new spot in the parking lot but couldn’t get passed the assistant sheriff’s vehicle. He was taken into custody. Bail: $1,137.
— A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for a confirmed warrant out of the Wadsworth Justice Court after deputies responded to a domestic dispute. Both parties in the dispute said they had been arguing about finances but it had never become physical, and no injuries could be seen by deputies. The woman was taken into custody for the warrant. Bail: $1,296 cash only.
