Carson City deputies make four domestic battery related arrests

A husband and wife were arrested Tuesday and face charges of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and misdemeanor domestic violence charges after an incident inside a Agate Drive home.

Arrested were a 43-year-old woman and 45-year-old man. According to the arrest report, officers were called at 8:05 p.m. to a residence on Agate Drive for a report of a domestic battery in progress. Dispatch advised that a father had battered his son and wife. Dispatch also relayed that Carson City fire and ambulance were responding due the subject bleeding and another being hit in the head.

Once on scene officers made contact with the 16-year-old male victim who said his mother and father had entered the residence and were both intoxicated. He said his mother had spent 90 days recently in rehab and just got out, according to the arrest report. The victim told officers he began yelling at his father, telling him it was wrong to take his mother to a bar and get her drunk after having spent time in rehab for alcohol issues, the arrest report states.

The victim said he began to get into a verbal argument with his father. He said his mother slapped the father, which then turned into a physical fight. The son said his father then came at him and punched him in the face multiple times with a closed fist.

The victim said his father then struck the woman in the face causing her to fall and strike her head against a kitchen cabinet. The victim said he fought back against his father. The victim said his sister, 15, called 911 for help. The victim said his mother was knocked out after striking her head. The victim said he was tired of both his parents getting drunk.

Officers spoke with the woman who said she was hit by the man. She displayed difficulty standing, smelled strongly of alcohol and was given a preliminary breath test with a .28, the arrest report states.
The man told officers that he had never been arrested before and was very sorry for wasting their time. He related that there was a dispute and fight that had taken place but would not give any details. He also smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech. He blew a .24 on a preliminary breath test, according to the arrest report.

Both husband and wife were taken into custody. The man was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count child neglect and endangerment. The woman was charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of child endangerment.

During a wants and warrant check on the woman, dispatch confirmed she had a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court for child neglect and endangerment. She was taken to the hospital before jail because she had struck the back of her head on the floor.

Child Protective Services were called to the scene. Bail for the 45-year-old man: $8,774. Bail for the 43-year-old woman: $8,137.
