Food For Thought hunger program moves to new Carson City location
Food For Thought, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healthy food to hungry children in Carson City, Silver Springs and parts of Douglas County, has moved its headquarters to a more accessible location.
Food for Thought is now located at the NorthTown Plaza, 3246 North Carson Street, Suite 118 in Carson City.
Each Friday, Food for Thought provides a healthy bag of food to local hungry children allowing them to eat on the weekends and to arrive at school on Monday nourished and ready to learn. This year the organization anticipates feeding more than 760 children each week through the school year.
"We moved to a new location that is more centrally located in Carson City making it easier for people to find us," said Executive Director Stephanie Gardner.
Food for Thought is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. School children are provided food through the nonprofit as part of a referral program set up through local schools. And during summer, free lunch is provided to children 2 to 18 years of age at Park Terrace Park. This summer the program served 3,676 lunches to children in need of healthy, nutritious meals.
