Carson City deputies arrest man for attempted vehicle burglary at park and ride
A 46-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for felony suspicion of attempting to break into a vehicle at a south Carson City Park and Ride area, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Dean Lewis was taken into custody at 9:18 a.m. near Park and Ride located on Highway 50 close to the intersection of South Carson Street. According to the arrest report, a deputy was called to the area after dispatch advised a man had been walking around parked vehicles with a windshield wiper in his hands.
Deputies located the man walking east away from vehicles parked in in the Park and Ride parking lot. A deputy asked the man why he was walking around vehicles and if he had been carrying a windshield wiper.
The wiper, the deputy observed, came from a Chevy two door coupe. The man told the deputy that the door on the vehicle was locked and that the car must have been stolen and he was attempting to open the door to return the car to its rightful owner, the arrest report states.
The officer observed a long piece of wood leaning on the driver’s side door of the vehicle and a windshield wiper sticking out of the door opening on the driver’s door and the windshield wiper arm, missing a wiper, bent away from the windshield.
The officer asked the man numerous times who the owner of the vehicle was. The man did not respond. He said he used the piece of wood to try to pry the driver’s door open, according to the arrest report.
Deputies ran the vehicle's license plates through dispatch and learned it had expired registration and that the registered owner was not Lewis. He was arrested for attempted vehicle burglary and taken to jail. Bail: $20,000.
— Two were arrested Wednesday with a woman facing felony drug charges after methamphetamine, heroin, needles and a scale were found among her belongings, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Michelle Harbour, 34, a transient, was taken into custody in the 600 block of East John Street after deputies were called to a business for an intrusion alarm call. She was arrested for possession of drugs for sale and possession of controlled substances.
A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested for misdemeanor violation of pre-trial supervision, after he had admitted to using drugs earlier that evening, a violation of court conditions.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the business on East John Street for an alarm. Officers arrived and made contact with two men and Harbour near a vehicle outside the business. The woman began acting suspicious, clutching her purse, and the 33-year-old man, whom deputies have known from previous stops, was not listening to orders given to him. Backup deputies were called.
The woman admitted one of the bags she was carrying contained needles. The woman told deputies she only carries clean needles to give out and that the men she was with must have put dirty needles inside the purse.
In a backpack belonging to the woman, deputies found a baggie with white residue and a backpack with a digital scale. All evidence was booked, including heroin found in a small white metal container. Bail for Harbour: $22,500. Bail for the 33-year-old Carson City man arrested for pre-trial violation: $3,000.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man, Raymond Vasquez, was served with a felony warrant at the Carson City Jail alleging domestic battery by strangulation. The warrant was issued Wednesday. Vasquez was in jail custody on unrelated criminal matters. Bail: $15,000.
