Youth football event at Carson High causes parking jam
Thousands are gathering today at Carson High School for the Sierra Youth Football League Carson Experience. More than 15,000 parents, coaches, players and fans are expected to attend the event, which has brought players to scrimmage from Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Parking has swelled, filling lots at the high school, nearby churches, side streets and at Mills Park. Parking is now being encouraged at Gold Dust West, according to Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies via dispatch. There is a shuttle bus that is operating, transporting passengers to the event from the resort casino, located at 2171 Highway 50 East.
Parking is also available at the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street.
The event, hosted by Sierra Youth Football League, runs all-day, dispatch advising it ends at 7 p.m.
