Donor Network West, the federally designated organ procurement organization for Northern California and Northern Nevada, coordinated 411 organ donors, matching its all-time annual record of organ donors set in 2019.

This holiday season, The Salvation Army’s Del Oro Division, which covers Northern Nevada and Northern California, has raised $800,000 less with its iconic Red Kettle Campaign compared to last year. In 2019, the nonprofit brought in $2.4 million to support Christmas assistance and fund programs throughout the year. So far this year, The Salvation Army has brought in just over $1.6 million. With just two days left in the campaign, the nonprofit is asking those in the community who are able, to please give and support their neighbors in need.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Real estate leader Garrett Lepire has been appointed the Carson City office Branch Manager for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties.

The Dayton Valley Golf Course has been acquired by Tour Specs Golf Management from Duncan Golf Management in a deal that was finalized this week. Tour Specs Golf Management principal owner, James (Jim) Kepler will also serve as course general manager. Kepler is a well-known PGA professional in Nevada and west coast golf communities.

Forecasters say we can expect consecutive days of high temperatures in most cities near or above 100 with overnight lows in the 60s. Record high Temperatures are likely, with potential for a new record for the latest 100 degrees at Reno.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Fire Department responded to assist Truckee Meadows Fire on the #NorthFire. As of Monday morning the fire has burned 3,000 acres and is 0 percent contained. Firefighters worked throughout the night battling this blaze and are back on the fire line this morning, according to CCFD.

Fires burning in the northern California region, including a new fire north of Highway 395 near Hallelujah Junction in Lassen County, Calif., has produced smoky skies throughout much of western Nevada, including Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas.

RENO, Nev. Late Spring is in full swing in the Tahoe Basin and Tahoe black bears are searching for food. Intentional or unintentional feeding of bears results in unwanted bear behaviors, increased human-bear conflicts, and public safety issues as well as fines and possible jail time for violators.

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded near Tonopah early Wednesday morning, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory. It was an aftershock to Friday's 6.5 earthquake.

UPDATE: The USGS increases the magnitude from 6.4 to 6.5 Friday morning.

UPDATE: Reports coming in from throughout the region note the quake was felt throughout northern and southern Nevada, as well as in Central and Northern California. Esmeralda County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, and Nevada Department of Transportation report several areas of US95 have damage caused from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred this morning.

A preliminary magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook near Tonopah and Walker Lake in the Monte Cristo Range early Friday morning at 4:03 a.m. The large earthquake was felt in Carson City and throughout northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — UPS announced the donation of 10,000 N95 respirator masks to the Nevada Department of Public Safety. UPS has procured a sufficient supply to meet internal needs for its employees, and is sharing its available masks to help protect healthcare providers and first responders in communities across the country.

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Camp Kesem club has been chosen as one of 12 colleges and universities from across the United States to compete to be one out of five schools to be chosen to start a new Camp Kesem chapter in their local area. Jean Hamilton passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday Dec. 3rd.
Jean married Bud Hamilton on December 22, 1956 in Lindsey, California. They moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1972. Jean always wanted to be a nurse and went to nursing school as soon as all her kids were in school. She enjoyed a 37 year career as a Registered Nurse, with the majority of it spent at Carson Tahoe Hospital. Everyone who worked with her, or were under her care, said she was truly the best nurse.

Fire departments from Carson City, Douglas County and Lyon County have sent engines to fight massive wildfires burning in Northern and Southern California.

Sierra Nevada Journeys and the Nature Conservancy in Nevada will host a Family STEM Night and Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 at River Fork Ranch Preserve, 381 Genoa Lane, Minden, Nev.

CARSON CITY — The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, announces its exhibition, "Constellation" at the Community Development Building, the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Nine students from the University of Nevada Reno’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public from Sept. 16 to Dec. 10, 2019, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
