This holiday season, The Salvation Army’s Del Oro Division, which covers Northern Nevada and Northern California, has raised $800,000 less with its iconic Red Kettle Campaign compared to last year. In 2019, the nonprofit brought in $2.4 million to support Christmas assistance and fund programs throughout the year. So far this year, The Salvation Army has brought in just over $1.6 million. With just two days left in the campaign, the nonprofit is asking those in the community who are able, to please give and support their neighbors in need.

Drift smoke continues to filter into Carson City region, Heat Advisory goes up for much of western Nevada

Fire shuts down US 395 at Hallelujah Junction, smoke lingers throughout western Nevada

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Fire Department responded to assist Truckee Meadows Fire on the #NorthFire. As of Monday morning the fire has burned 3,000 acres and is 0 percent contained. A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded near Tonopah early Wednesday morning, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory. It was an aftershock to Friday's 6.5 earthquake.

Esmeralda County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, and Nevada Department of Transportation report several areas of US95 have damage caused from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred this morning.

A preliminary magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook near Tonopah and Walker Lake in the Monte Cristo Range early Friday morning at 4:03 a.m. The large earthquake was felt in Carson City and throughout northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

Jean Hamilton passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday Dec. 3rd.
Jean married Bud Hamilton on December 22, 1956 in Lindsey, California. They moved to Carson City, Nevada in 1972. Jean always wanted to be a nurse and went to nursing school as soon as all her kids were in school. She enjoyed a 37 year career as a Registered Nurse, with the majority of it spent at Carson Tahoe Hospital. Everyone who worked with her, or were under her care, said she was truly the best nurse.

CARSON CITY — The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, announces its exhibition, "Constellation" at the Community Development Building, the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Nine students from the University of Nevada Reno’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public from Sept. 16 to Dec. 10, 2019, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.
