Property recovered in string of Carson City burglaries open for review

Hundreds of items recovered from a string of burglaries in the Carson City, Douglas County, Reno and Sparks areas will be on display for crime victims to review.
The display will be on Monday, July 26 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 East Musser Street.
An 18-year-old Carson City man, Christopher Buttz, was arrested and faces charges of possession of stolen property. According to Washoe County investigators, the arrest in Washoe County led to the recovery of additional stolen property from at least four residential burglaries. Detectives from Washoe County, Reno Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and Sparks Police Department developed information on additional suspects, authorities said.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at one suspect’s residence, resulting in the recovery of hundreds of items linked to burglaries in all five jurisdictions.
Citizens who have been victims of a burglaries in the past several months are invited to the public showing of the recovered property. In order to attend the viewing, however, burglary victims must present a case number from the law enforcement agency when they made crime report.

The following statement was issued from Douglas County regarding the burglaries:

The Douglas County Sheriff’s office has reported a large increase of vehicle burglaries in Douglas County in 2010. An investigation began and in cooperation with Carson City Sheriff’s department a search warrant was served at a residence on Dori Drive in Carson City on July 14. The search resulted in more than 150 items of stolen property being recovered.

The following persons have been arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and vehicle burglary. Bryan Gaudette age 27, Heather Olea, 22, and Christopher Butz, 18, and are being held at the Carson City Jail. Andrue Madden, 18, is still being sought by law enforcement.

If you have been a victim of vehicle burglary in the Johnson Lane area of Douglas County since March 1, through now, and have reported the crime to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, your property may have been recovered and we need your assistance in identifying it.
