Carson City leadership 'boot camps' designed to inspire change in organizations
Carson City area leaders in business, government and the nonprofit sector are encouraged to enroll in a series of workshops this month designed to inspire, energize and bring about positive, efficient paradigm changes to organizations.
Led by award-winning humanitarian and motivational speaker Ian Hill, the "boot camps" will be held June 16, 20 and 23 at the BRIC building, 108 E. Proctor Street in Carson City. Enrollment ranges from $199 to $249. A portion of proceeds will go to the Carson City Court Appointed Special Advocates and the Brewery Arts Center.
The challenge is that the nature of leadership has changed. "The autocratic leadership approach of one guy or gal on the white horse telling everybody what to do - those days are gone," said Hill.
"The problems are too complex and multifaceted for any one person to take on today's changing times. It requires a different kind of leadership approach; an individual has the capacity to be a convener, a catalyst, and a collaborator. Someone with the ability to marshal the human capital of all stakeholders and move towards a common goal," he said.
The first half of the June 16 program runs from 9 a.m. to noon and is designed for social and nonprofit agency leaders. The second half runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and is for government and public sector brass. The June 20 program, from 1 to 5 p.m., is designed for private business leaders who want to maximize performance ratios. The June 23 boot camp is from 8 a.m. to noon with the theme: "Building the Public Sector, One Leader at a Time."
