Nevada Urban Indians to open clinic in Carson City offering substance abuse treatment, suicide prevention
Nevada Urban Indians is set to open a clinic in Carson City on Winnie Lane in the beginning of June, which will be offering substance abuse treatment programs, suicide prevention treatment, medicinal clinic days, and more.
The clinic will be open three days a week Tuesday-Thursday at the Carson city branch, located at 236 Winnie Lane.
According to Nathan Jersey, Program Coordinator, the clinic is being funded in part by a grant which aims to serve Native American populations, at risk populations and youth.
In addition to a substance abuse treatment program, they’ll also be offering a Methamphetamine Suicide Prevention Initiative program, which will provide basic suicide prevention education.
One day a month, a medical clinic day will be offered which will include wellness checks, physicals, vaccinations, and more.
The clinic will take Medicaid as well as most insurances. For those who are low income and do not have insurance, a sliding scale fee will be considered. For some programs, such as the MSPI program for youth aged 9-20 who do not have insurance, the program’s grants could fund treatment for those who qualify.
In the future, a Victims Services Unit will be working with clients of the clinic as well once services are established.
A launch date is planned for the first week of June, said Jersey, and the clinic will be open to everyone.
Tuesday’s and Thursday’s will focus on the MSPI program, and Wednesday’s will focus on the substance abuse treatment program.
