Carson City Arbor Day celebration Saturday features treasure hunt, fun run/walk
The Nevada Division of Forestry will be presenting the award to Carson City on behalf of the Foundation. Mayor Bob Crowell will read the Carson City Arbor Day proclamation and a state official will read the Nevada Arbor Day proclamation.
Roy Trenoweth who was a former state forester and a current and long -time member of the Shade Tree Council will be receiving the George Washington Ferris Award for his enduring support of Carson City’s urban forestry program. A memorial tree donated by the Desert Gardeners Garden Club will be planted in the park to mark the occasion.
Other activities include a 1.5 mile long Dog Friendly Fun Run/Walk starting at Long Ranch Park and coursing through the neighborhood and a Tree Treasure Hunt conducted by Arborist Rod Haulenbeek. Both of these events will start approximately at 11:00 am after the Arbor Day Ceremony.
