Carson City Cultural Commission to hold meeting to discuss grants, budget and more
The Carson City Cultural Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, April 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center. On the docket for discussion will be the Department of Arts and Culture budget, a "Celebrate Culture!" grant guideline and more.
The public is invited to comment on or discuss any topic relevant to or within the authority of the Carson City Cultural Commission. The community center is located at 851 E. William Street.
Public comment is limited to 3 minutes.
The approval of the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Annual Report, and the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Work Plan will be on the table, which will then be presented to the Board of Supervisors.
Each year, the annual report and work-plan must be presented to the Board of Supervisors no later than May 1, which must include attendance records of members.
According to the agenda, the Cultural Commission now stands at seven members, and represents an “expanded diversity in age, gender, artistic interests, and public representation.” Attendance at regularly scheduled meetings exceeds the 75 percent attendance requirements.
Up for discussion will be the Department of Arts and Culture Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget as well.
A presentation of a draft for the Public Art Policy, Chapters 1-6 for the Municipality of Carson City will be given during the special meeting.
Lastly, a presentation and discussion of a Celebrate Culture! grant guideline and application will be given, which the Carson City Cultural Commission would distribute with funding from the Arts & Culture 1 percent Transient Occupancy Tax as Annually budgeted by the Department of Arts and Culture.
The total budgeted amount for the Celebrate Culture! grant would not exceed $8,000.
