Carson Lanes burglary suspect who stole cash, laptop, booze and food in custody
A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with burglaries that happened at Carson Lanes bowling alley over the weekend, a Carson City sheriff's captain said.
Lee Lawson was taken into custody in the 2000 block of William Street, also known as Highway 50 East, after nearby casino security alerted law enforcement that the suspect had been at a casino earlier and matched the description of the bowling alley burglary suspect, said CCSO Capt. Brian Humphrey.
The suspect faces felony charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a credit card and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest out of Reno Justice Court that alleges possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Saturday, Feb. 24, Carson Lanes at 4600 Snyder Avenue in Carson City was burglarized during the night. The suspect remained in the business after closing and hid until the employees left. The suspect remained in the business for several hours and consumed food and alcohol. The suspect left taking several items, including a laptop computer, money, blank checks and other documents.
On Monday morning, Carson Lanes was broken into a second time and it is believed the same suspect rummaged through several offices in the building leaving with unknown items, said Humphrey.
The investigation revealed the suspect spent time in two local casinos over the weekend where security cameras provided photos of the man, believed to be Lawson.
On Monday at 4 p.m. the suspect returned to one of the casinos at which time security called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and detectives located the suspect in the 2000 Block of Highway 50 East in Carson City.
The suspect was arrested while still wearing some of the same clothing used during the burglary and in possession of several items that were stolen from Carson Lanes.
