Carson City man arrested for battery, obstruction following living room brawl
A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3400 block of Harvard Way Friday evening for battery and obstructing after he allegedly fought with his wife's coworker in their living room.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the residence in report of a fight in progress. The reporting party was the man's wife and the other person in the fight was her co-worker, according to the report, and both were "highly intoxicated."
When deputies entered the residence, they witnessed the man on top of another man. The second man was in a defensive position with his hands covering his face, and the suspect was throwing punches. Both men had blood dripping from their faces, according to deputies.
They watched the 30-year-old punch the other man in the face and torso approximately three times before deputies were able to pull the man off.
They had him on the ground and told him to put his hands behind his back, which he refused.
Deputies were eventually able to put him in handcuffs and transported him to the hospital for medical clearance, and the man was uncooperative with both hospital staff and deputies during the entirety of the visit. He only calmed down when he was given sedatives by the hospital staff.
Deputies spoke with the victim, who stated they were in fear of their life at one point during the altercation. He said that at one point he had retrieved a handgun from a locked safe in his garage to defend himself, but that he never pointed it at the suspect.
The man was transferred to the Carson City Jail and booked.
