19-year-old Carson City man arrested for domestic battery after forcefully keeping girlfriend of one-month from leaving
A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 300 block of W. Hampton Drive early Friday morning for domestic battery after allegedly pushing and hitting his girlfriend who was attempting to leave the residence.
According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area of W. Hampton Drive just after midnight on Friday on a report there was a male subject pushing a female subject into a wall and hitting her.
Deputies arrived in the area but did not see anyone outside. They saw a vehicle in the driveway of a residence and made contact with a woman inside and asked if she knew who had been fighting.
The woman told deputies it was her friends who were fighting and they were currently inside of the residence.
The woman allowed deputies inside and deputies made contact with the subjects, identified as the 19-year-old man and his girlfriend.
The man told deputies he had been dating his girlfriend for about a month and got into an argument. He said during the argument his girlfriend wanted to leave and he did not want her to so he blocked the door.
Deputies asked if he pushed or hit the woman and he stated they “mutually pushed each other” according to the report. Deputies asked if he had any injuries and he said no. Deputies asked whether or not the girlfriend would have injuries and he said he didn’t think so.
Deputies asked him why he blocked the exit and he said it was because he didn’t want her to leave.
Deputies spoke with the girlfriend who had injuries on both her arms and her back. She told deputies she had been trying to walk down the street to leave but the man kept grabbing her and pulling on her. Deputies asked to see her injuries and they observed scratching and bruising on her biceps as well as a scratch on her lower back. Her injuries were consistent with being forcefully grabbed, according to the report.
The man was taken into custody for domestic battery.
