Carson City arrests: Two jailed early Saturday after stolen vehicle traffic stop
Two men were arrested early Saturday morning on felony charges related to the theft of a vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Douglas Clay Nicholson, 31, and Roy Carrell Myers, 28, of Sparks were taken into custody at 2:36 a.m. Each also face felony charges of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, shortly before 2 a.m. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong checked the license plate of a suspicious vehicle through dispatch which advised it was listed as stolen.
A deputy made a traffic stop of the vehicle at South Carson and Stewart streets. Nicholson was the driver and Myers was the passenger. Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was stolen out of Sparks, the arrest report states.
Inside the vehicle deputies found suspected methamphetamine, clean and used needles, small baggies and other paraphernalia within reach of both suspects. Some items also had Myers initials on them. There was also a stolen trailer plate in the truck bed. The trailer plate was amongst some other miscellaneous items and as well as a bag belonging to Myers.
Nicholson told officers he was buying the truck from the registered owner. Because of the mutual possession of the methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and stolen trailer plate, deputies arrest both men. Because Nicholson was the driver he was also charged with suspicion of grand larceny of a motor vehicle. Bail for Nicholson, $38,637. Bail for Myers, $13,637.
