Virginia City readies for its first Wild Horse Faire
The first Wild Horse Faire will arrive in Virginia City, Aug. 23, hosted by the Silverland Inn, Let 'Em Run Foundation and the Virginia City Tourism Commission.
Conceived as a benefit event to raise funds for Nevada’s wild horses, this full day event will include a Wild Horse Parade, Veterans coalition Color Guard, show and shine by the Mustang Car Club of Reno, Native American percussion demonstration, wild horse gentling and training demonstration, arts and crafts booths, pony food and beverage booths, and a concert by David John and the Comstock Cowboys and Lacy J. Dalton and Dale Poune.
Festivities begin at 9 a.m. m and there's a pancake breakfast at 10 a.m.. The parade starts at noon followed at 2 p.m. by animal demonstration and examples of wild horse gentling techniques. At 4:30 p.m., the nighttime musical extravaganza kicks off.
