2016 Get on the Bus Carson River Watershed Tour
Join us in exploring the Carson River Watershed on a two-day bus tour. The Carson Water Subconservancy District is offering a bus tour of the Carson River Watershed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 7 and 8, 2016. The Carson River Watershed “Get on the Bus” Tour will cover a variety of watershed topics and locations from the headwaters in Alpine County, CA to the terminus at the Carson Sink near Fallon, NV.
Among the expected stops are East Fork Carson River restoration sites, the Washington Fire area, the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, The Nature Conservancy’s River Fork Ranch, Carson River Park in Carson City, the Rolling A Ranch, Buckland Station, Lahontan Dam, the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribal Wetlands, and the Churchill County Museum.
Experts will cover several topics including water rights, river restoration projects, water quality and quantity, floodplain management, invasive species, agriculture, recreation, fisheries and habitat, and education/outreach programs.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided each day. Videos and discussions will keep travelers informed en route between stops.
The two-day tour cost is $130 on or before May 20, 2016 and $150 thereafter. For more information and to register, contact CWSD at 777 E.
