Country Valley Jug Stompers at the Brewery Arts Center this Saturday night
The Jug Stompers performing Saturday at Brewery Arts Center are Mark Kuniya, Natalie Nielson, and Krista Jenkins. They have been raising a ruckus in the Reno-Tahoe area for almost ten years with an intoxicating blend of primitive blues, ragtime, and country and western music of the late 1920s and early 1930s.
At the core of this jug band is a cultural intensity and an originality that combines pre-war American music with pop retro-grass and obscure Japanese jug band influences. The washtub bass, washboard, jug and other unsophisticated instruments help create an authentic jug band experience with a dash of wasabi and purple rain.
This Saturday night they are bringing their unique sound to the Brewery Arts Center's Black Box Theater.
Showtime is 7pm, tickets are $10 advance $15 door $8 members
