A Chautauqua of Chuck Yeager, a concert by Moni & the Moonlighters and a presentation on “Wood for the Comstock” by historian Wendell Huffman, will wrap up the month of August at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

Because of rain, Monday night's 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jazz & Beyond performances have been moved to the Brewery Arts Center's Performance Hall at 511 W. King St. in Carson City.

The Nashville Social Club is bringing Carson City an unparalleled burlesque show with a country rock twist that has audiences on the edge of their seats. Come witness the sultry moves of the dancers of the Most Wanted! A Country Rock Burlesque Show on Saturday, August 12th at 8 pm.

Carson City’s 20th annual Jazz & Beyond Music Festival, presented by the Mile High Jazz Band Association, offers 11 days of free entertainment and more than two dozen performances.

Two or more concerts will be held each day in multiple venues around the city, beginning with the festival opener on Friday, Aug. 11, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Governor’s Mansion, on the corner of W. Robinson and Mountain Streets. It features the Andean music of Kantu Inka followed by the 17-piece big band, the Reno Jazz Orchestra, with special guest entertainer, David Hayes. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Seating is limited; attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Carolyn Dolan & Big Red will play in concert and Chautauquas of convicted Salem witch, Mary Perkins Bradbury, botanist Agnes Scott Train and early Carson Valley businesswoman Anna Harris will be performed. Historians Dr. Michael Fischer will speak on Basque hotels, and Linda Reid on her book “A Window in Time.” All are scheduled mid-August at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

On Thursday August 10 at 6:30PM, the Douglas County Historical Society continues its History Lecture Series with a 55-minute slide show presentation, “The Big Bang.” Local author/historian, takes a look back at the incredible, true and bizarre story of a calculating and disgruntled gambler, and his attempt to extort three million dollars from the historic Harvey’s Casino Resort at Lake Tahoe in August of 1980.
