Comstock Lode of Cats show in Carson City this weekend

Attention all feline lovers: the first Comstock Lode of Cats will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6, 2014 at Fuji Park in Carson City.

Passenger in Saturday's Carson City motorcycle crash at Roop and Fairview dies

The South Lake Tahoe passenger of a motorcycle that crashed Saturday in Carson City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Audrey G. Rugamas, 21, died of injuries after she was taken off of life support on Wednesday. Rugamas had received severe injuries sustained from the motorcycle crash with a vehicle, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.

Carson City deputies make two alcohol-related arrests

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made three misdemeanor related arrests Wednesday. A 54-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. in the 100 block of East Corbett on suspicion of indecent conduct after he allegedly stood in the street and urinated.

The man did not have identification on him and was reported to be homeless. A preliminary breath test was given with a .17 reading, according to the arrest report. Bail: $347.

Agencies, counties and employers continue to push job hiring in the region

Employers and job seekers have been connecting this winter and spring through a number of initiatives including job fairs in Carson City, Lake Tahoe, an April 4 event planned in Douglas County and most recently through Nevada JobConnect.

A weeklong job quest campaign in Carson City received 1,047 job openings in a variety of industries from entry level to executive level jobs, well above the goal of 500 job openings set by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, said DETR Director Frank Woodbeck.

This is the second place photo for the Carson City Photo Club for the month of March. The theme was texture and pattern in black and white. This photo was taken by Nicole Grant of Nicole Grant Photography and is of a barn near Wilson Commons Park in Washoe Valley. I am a local portrait photographer and I joined the club because I was looking for something to expand my horizon and push me to photography new scenes. The club meets the last Wednesday of every month at the Carson City Sheriff Office at 6:30PM.

Douglas authorities investigate theft of two snowmobiles from Spooner recreation area

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of two snowmobiles taken from the Spooner Summit Recreational area between March 10 and March 17, 2014.

The snowmobiles were 2009 Yamaha Venture Light, red and gray in color. The snowmobiles are from a fleet operated from the Spooner area that had been cabled and locked however, the suspect cut the cable and took two of three snowmobiles, said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks.
