Grand Opening of the Browsers Corner Bookstore

The new location is just across the street from the Library at 711 East Washington Street. There will be a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. with the Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be served and there will be a free raffle.

Submitted by admin on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 5:50pmF.I.S.H.'s Have a Heart Celebration took over Glen Eagles Restaurant on Saturday night, with more than 400 guests who came to raise money for the organization.
The diners were served by more than 40 celebrity waiters, from singer Lacy J. Dalton to Congressman Mark Amodei. The waiters made their best efforts to earn extra tips, from telling jokes to singing songs.

UNR announces plan to go tobacco-free in 2015
Submitted by editor on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 1:56pmThe University of Nevada, Reno announced Monday, March 31, its plans to implement a Tobacco-Free University policy effective Aug. 1, 2015.
This action has been endorsed through resolutions of support by the UNR Faculty Senate, Staff Employees Council, Graduate Student Association and Associated Students of the University of Nevada. The University will join nearly 1,200 other U.S. colleges and universities that have implemented a tobacco-free policy.

With the arrival of spring Carson City's population of mule deer are on the move for fresh flowers, leaves and bulbs popping up around the neighborhoods, especially along the west side.
Several drinking related and warrant arrests keep Carson City deputies occupied this weekend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 12:18pmA 37-year-old Carson City man was jailed Saturday after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with a small child in the car without a safety seat.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy observed the man driving and failing to main his lane of travel and changing directions onto the Carson City freeway without using a signal.
The vehicle then was observed going southbound between Highway 50 East and Fairview Drive, drifting over the broken white line and crossing the right fog lane line, the arrest report states.
Nevada State Development Corporation helps Foster Machining move into new Carson City space
Submitted by editor on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 11:06amNevada State Development Corporation partnered with Wells Fargo Bank to assist Foster Machining with an SBA 504 loan, allowing the machine shop to buy a new building at 5070 Sigstrom in Carson City.
Co-owner Scott Foster — who runs Foster Machining with his brother Timothy — said the company outgrew the 7,500 square-foot space it was renting, and turned to NSDC to buy a building that could more comfortably house its 20 employees and the shop and office space they needed.
