In book, former Nevada Gov. Bob Miller embraces father's past

Miller, Nevada longest serving governor at 10 years, was back in the capital city for a book signing for his just released, “Son of a Gambling Man: My Journey from a Casino Family to the Governor’s Mansion.”
Carson City Search and Rescue hosts Geocache Adventure

The Geocache Adventure, a second-annual event hosted by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit, will provide a day's worth of searching for participants and $1,000 in prizes.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start time. The gathering will meet at Bully's Sports Bar and Grill, 3530 N Carson Street. Cost: Kids under 15: $12 Adults: $20 Team of 4 any age: $60

State's top officers to address NNDA Wednesday; five new businesses to be announced

Attorney General Catherine Cortez-Masto will discuss Home Again Nevada and her Sex Trafficking Bill. State Treasurer Kate Marshall shares her new scholarship program for children entering kindergarten. Secretary of State Ross Miller will discuss the new Business Portal.
Nevada Campus Carry Bill Gains Support

While K-12 schools are currently protected under federal law as “gun-free zones,” the Senate Judiciary Committee met this morning to discuss SB 223, a bill that proposes employees and faculty members be permitted to carry concealed weapons on higher education campuses.

Carson City man jailed; accused of beating and choking pregnant girlfriend
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 03/25/2013 - 12:54pmA Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly punching his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach and then choking her.
Aaron Patrick Allen Lane, 38, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. in the 2400 block of Poole Way. Lane also faces a misdemeanor charge out of Walker River Township for failure to pay fines associated with domestic battery.
Carson High Students Help Prep Tax Returns at the BRIC

As part of providing this valuable service to members of the community that have low-to-moderate income, the BRIC is collaborating with the Future Business Leaders of America club on campus at Carson High School.
GE Employees Come Together for Charity

The event, organized by GE’s Measurement and Control employees in Minden, was held Friday, February 22, 2013, at Jethro’s Bar and Grill in Gardnerville, Nevada. Both charities rely heavily on support from partners, like GE, to sustain operations.
Bankruptcy Education workshop Thursday at Carson City Library

This month, Thursday, March 28, the Self Help Forms Completion Clinic will begin at 1:30 p.m. This workshop will provide general instructions and assistance regarding the completion of self-help forms for those who are self-represented litigants. A Notary Public will also be available.
March’s Education Clinic will begin at 3:30 p.m. Bankruptcy Education is the topic for the Education Clinic.
