A Mad Scramble

One month ago, I was in a mad scramble trying to find a class for spring semester. Today, I was holding the elevator door for a Senator so we could both attend his committee hearing in a timely fashion. Tonight, as I look over my first article while awaiting the publication of my second, I can’t help but catch things that would make Paul Mitchell give me that clairvoyant look, the one where he doesn’t say anything but I can actually hear the bass of his voice in my mind saying: you are capable of doing better than this, right?

However Le Cirque Vagabond not only brings world class amazing acts and a message that will stop and awe you. This company is driven by its very message that they convey.

Considering how many years I spent building and managing the websites of the Nevada Appeal and its sister publications, I was interested to see them roll out a completely new web platform and design last week.
The look is very clean, though almost in a retro-1999 way, and they do work better on mobile devices. But they removed so much navigation that it makes it hard to find what you are looking for, and the keyword search is deathly slow, when it works at all.
Man jailed for felony parole violation; Two Dayton women arrested following meth sting sale

He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and told a witness, concerned about his well being, that he was "on H" which is street slang for heroin.
Carson High School Uniform Debate
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 1:09pmWhy am I opposed to school uniforms at Carson High School? It’s a lengthy answer and so I’ll try to condense it. We live in a small town, with limited selection to stores. We have Wal-Mart, Target, JCPenny, and Kohl’s. We have access, in Reno, to those listed plus several more, but only a fraction of the stores that you would have in a big city. My daughter has been in the current SSA “uniforms” at the middle school for the last 2 years. Additionally I have a buying background in the fashion industry for 8 years, so I have that perspective to my argument as well.

Carson City restaurant and food inspection report

This week's inspection includes multiple bar and lounge establishments; restaurants and fast food restaurants; several convenience stores; a high school concession stand; an elementary school cafeteria; a meat market and a church kitchen.

Dog Hit By Car on Hwy 50 and Left For Dead - Rescued

Wednesday morning this dog was struck by a car on Hwy 50 in Mound House, just under the V&T overpass, and left for dead. A good Samaritan stopped and picked him up, took him to Lone Mountain Vet in Carson City.
Firefighters get handle on brush fire from escaped pile burn off of Spooner near Old Clear Creek
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 03/21/2013 - 7:31pmUPDATE 8:08 PM: Carson City firefighters at the scene of a brush fire off of Old Clear Creek and Tahoe Golf Club Drive report they have a line around the fire, which was reportedly from a burn pile in the area that began to spread. It is unknown if the pile burn was from controlled fire operations by the U.S. Forest Service. The size of the fire was reported to be about a quarter acre.
Firefighters report to have extinguished flames that had burned outside the burn pile area.
Putting Main Street on a Road Diet

On March 14th I attended a workshop presented by the Carson City Public Works Department. The presentation outlined a proposal to create a pedestrian-friendly environment on Carson Street through the downtown area of Carson City between Fifth Street and Ann Street. This Road Diet, as they are commonly called, would include using striping to reduce travel lanes from four to two, and add on-street parallel parking.
