Here are some photos of the moon from Carson City on Monday night, ahead of Tuesday's full "supermoon" also called the "pink moon," which astronomers say will be the biggest and brightest of the year. As we are isolated indoors, you may want to step outside for a view of this one.

Carson City area weather: Slick roads for morning commute

Light snow fell across parts of western Nevada and the northern Sierra overnight. The heaviest snow of several inches fell along the Sierra Front around Carson City and Minden, south of Reno and the Tahoe basin from Highway 50 south to Markleeville. Other areas saw a light snowfall and water on the roadways has frozen.

A winter storm will continue to push through the region Sunday into Monday, bringing several feet of snow to the Sierra with rain and a few inches of snow around Carson City and the valley floors.

Fire and Snow Warnings highlight Carson City weather through the weekend, which feels right given the state of things

In typical Nevada fashion, there are weather advisories for both fire and snow on the horizon, really cementing in the apocalyptic mood of our current times.

There is a fire weather watch in effect from 2 p.m. Friday through Saturday afternoon due to strong winds and low humidity for all of Western Nevada.

Southwest winds increase today ahead of the oncoming storm hailing from the pacific. Strong gusty winds continue into Saturday with some lower humidity during the day on Friday.

Winds will weaken some for Sunday, but should remain gusty.
