April 23 Carson City School Board Meeting to recognize Employees of the Year

The Carson City School District will hold its next school board meeting in Senator Square inside Carson High School this Tuesday, April 23 beginning at 6 p.m.

Agenda items include an award ceremony, announcements, upcoming activities at the high schools and more.

Carson City school board to discuss budget changes, vaccine exemptions, early release dates

The Carson City School District board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William Street.

A resolution to approve an augmented and amended budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year will be held. During the hearing, a disclosure of changes to the final budget will be provided.

Carson Valley Medical Center Great Outdoors Health Fair Oct. 20

Carson Valley Medical Center has moved its annual community health fair to the middle of autumn, with this year’s event scheduled to take place Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon on its main campus, 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville.

Free flu vaccinations will be offered during this year’s fair, along with a variety of free health screenings including glucose testing, peripheral artery disease screenings (Ankle-Brachial Index), blood pressure checks, Body Mass Index readings and more.

UNR rural medical care clinics available, flu shots offered Saturday in Dayton

Northern Nevadans who are uninsured, underinsured or without a social security number can receive free medical care this October through December 2018 at upcoming University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine Student Outreach Clinics including a new Rural Outreach Influenza Clinic in Dayton.

National Honor Society President Eleanor Sturm made her opening remarks at the annual NHS induction ceremony Sept. 17 in the CHS Big Gym. Guest Speaker, Greater Nevada Credit Union Vice President Jenny Casselman then addressed the new NHS members and discussed what it means to be a part of such a fantastic organization and the responsibilities of being an NHS member.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working with the Carson City School District to offer students annual seasonal flu vaccinations. There will be a team of CCHHS licensed nurses at each school to administer the flu vaccine. The vaccination is safe and a health action that benefits all age groups to protect against influenza illness.

Annual Carson City 'Pooch Plunge' Pool Party returns this Saturday

Carson City's annual Pooch Plunge Pool Party is back this Saturday, Sept. 22. Before the outside pool at the Carson City Aquatic Center is drained for the season, furry four legged (or three legged) friends are asked to come and enjoy a day of doggy paddling, tennis balls and Frisbee throws.
