Though no one knows for sure who said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”, CHS teacher and Air Force veteran Tod Jennings, in his respectfully fun and playful manner, challenged CHS teacher and Navy veteran Daniel Ingram to a bet.

Nevada Day and the big parade are just one week away, but first is the annual Carson City Ghost Walk this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in downtown Carson City.

206 acres between Ash Canyon and Vicee Canyon have recently been purchased from Gerald and Luanna Hamm by Carson City, with funds from the Carson City Quality of Life – Open Space Fund and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

This new section, constructed by the Carson Valley Trails Association, begins at Spooner Summit, and ends near the trailhead to the Clear Creek Connector Trail close to Golf Club Drive at U.S. Highway 50 West.

Among today's featured events are a morning walk and evening hike, a Pony Express celebration in Silver Springs, a viewing of the Hitchcock classic "Rear Window" and more.

The best seats at the Aviation Roundup, held at the Minden-Tahoe Airport Oct. 13-14, 2018, are on-site.

Hello Carson City, it is Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. Expect a sunny day with some afternoon breezes, and a cool evening. Among events today are a Women's Empowerment Workshop at the capital, Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davison in Carson City, a Muscle Powered hike, live music and more.

Please vote for Muscle Powered in the NV Energy Power of Giving event. Muscle Powered completed Secret trail June of 2018 and we now need to plant some native plants around it for sustainability.

The weekend is not only around the corner but the roar of Street Vibrations arrives today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Battle Born Harley-Davison in Carson City. Among today's other featured events are a Muscle Powered hike, a talk about time management strategy at Rustically Divine and a reading of "Alice in Wonderland" where the Carson City Library is highlighting those celebrated book classics that have been banned at one time or another in history. Today the Carson City Soroptimist meet to talk about the McKinney-Vento program, and tonight the Carson City School District will hold a public meeting asking the community to weigh in on the district's strategic plan. Plus there's a candidate meet and greet, art showings, music and more.

As we head into our first full week of fall, sunny skies and a cool evening are on tap for this Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018. Among today's events are a morning walk and evening hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a chamber luncheon that focuses on Nevada Ballot Question 3 and the showing of the film "Westward the Women" by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

The long awaited Disc Golf course for Carson City has its end in sight, and should be finished by the end of the year if all goes well.

Good morning Carson City and welcome to the middle of the work week. It is Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018. Today brings the beginning of a 5-week mindful meditation series, a fascinating Capital City Arts Initiative Nevada Neighbors talk, a welcome to fall chamber event at Red's Old 395 Grill, a free concert featuring acclaimed folk singer Nate Currin at Sassafras and more.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, nearly 200 Carson High School's Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, also known as NJROTC, participated in a mass clean-up of East Silver Saddle Ranch in Carson City.

Enjoy the last few days of summer as fall is around the corner. Today is Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. Today brings the second and final volunteer training event at the Nevada State Museum, morning and afternoon hikes and walks, a rally at the capital, a fundraiser at Mills Park, plenty of art exhibits and more.

My heart is pounding in my chest; my eyes are focused on the path ahead, silently cursing my greatest enemy: the sun. On Sept. 9, the Carson High School Senators Cycling team competed at Rattlesnake Roundup, a Hidden Valley race course.

Sunday is supposed to be a day for rest, so spend the rest of your weekend making it a fun day.
