Carson Chamber Singers spring concerts are Saturday in Carson City, Sunday in Reno

The Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Michael Langham, continues its 30th season with a pair of Spring Concerts in Carson City and Reno.
The first concert will be on Saturday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 314 N. Division Street in in Carson City.

I hope everyone is feeling okay this morning; lots of fun was had throughout town yesterday. Please be aware that schoolchildren are celebrating Nevada Moves Day today, and there will be several little ones walking or biking to school.

Enjoy a nice dinner tonight, complete with live music, if you head to Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Glen Eagles, or Living the Good Life. The Carson City Symphony is looking for bassoons, French horns, and violas to join them at rehearsals tonight.

Reno Chamber Orchestra Presents Tomasz Golka & CCC Winner

Guest conductor Maestro Tomasz Golka leads the Reno Chamber Orchestra in Nightingale Concert Hall on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. in a program starting with Haydn’s No. 39 and Schubert’s “Tragic” minor key symphonies. Next enjoy a modern composition by composer Witold Lutoslawski, as well as Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations performed by cellist Xiao Lai Zhou, the first prize winner of the Reno Chamber Orchestra’s 2015 College Concerto Competition. Tickets can be purchased on the website and range from $5 – $45.

The middle of the week, and if you’re like me, you are still adjusting to the time change. Get the blood pumping with some live music. Head to Sassafras for a Jazz Jam headed by Tom Miller, or maybe to Living the Good Life where Mick and Lynne will entertain you. Cowboy boots are not required if you want to get in on the country line dance lessons at Carson Lanes. If you’re a musician, the Carson City Symphony is looking for violinists and French horn players to join them at their rehearsals.

Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals for April 26 concert

Attention musicians! The Carson City Symphony will begin rehearsals for the April 26 "Spring Celebration" concert on Wednesday, March 11, 7 to 9:15 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, 1750 Mountain Street, Carson City. Most subsequent Wednesday rehearsals will be at the Carson High band room.

The Carson City Symphony invites the public to a concert celebrating the seasons on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.
This exciting program features eight seasons: "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi and "The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires" by Astor Piazzolla. Both are directed by David Bugli and feature guest violin soloist Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio and narrator Rita Geil. STRAZZ youth strings will join the orchestra in Vivaldi's Autumn and Winter.

TOCCATA Presents The Paul Guttman Concert Series

Christmas strings program today at Carson Mall

Carson City Symphony, Carson Mall host Friday's 'Christmas Carol Playalong for Strings'

String players of all ages and levels are invited to join the seventh annual Christmas Carol Play-along this Friday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 5 p.m. inside Carson Mall. This free community event is hosted by Carson City Symphony Association and Carson Mall.

Violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp players are welcome to come and play. Bring your music stand. Everyone else, come and listen or sing along.

Consort Canzona 'Lessons and Carols' Concerts Canceled for Dec. 13 and 15

The Consort Canzona "Lessons and Carols" holiday concerts originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Dec. 13 at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville) and Monday night (Dec. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Gardnerville) have to be canceled.

Too many of the performers are sick, including the conductor, Gary Schwartz. The group is affiliated with the Carson City Symphony, which WILL be having its 31st Annual "Holiday Treat" Concert as scheduled on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its fifth annual "This is Not a Christmas Concert" on Tuesday, December 2, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.

Nearly 100 string players, including Carson City public, private, and home-schooled students, and students from surrounding areas, will perform several pieces, from classics to folk and fiddle tunes, from Baroque music by Arcangelo Corelli to jazz tunes by Duke Ellington. Admission is free.

The Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Michael Langham, continues its 30th season with a pair of Christmas concerts in Reno and Sacramento. The first concert will be on Friday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Ave. in Reno.

The program will be repeated in Sacramento on Sunday, December 7, at 7 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Marks Way. For the Sunday concert, the St. Mark's Chancel Choir and the St. Mark's Singers will join in performance with the Carson Chamber Singers.

Reno Philharmonic Orchestra offers free Family Concert highlighting young talent

The pure love of music is inspiring and motivating and, for many, life changing. This is especially true for youth involved with orchestral programs. The Reno Philharmonic Association’s Free Family Concert and Youth Orchestra Fall Showcase puts the organization’s music education program center stage Nov. 15 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, Reno, Nev. The concerts are part of the Reno Philharmonics’ education and outreach initiatives, providing music education, enrichment and exposure to thousands of Washoe County and greater Truckee Meadows school children.
