Carson City Symphony presents 'French Passion' concert

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will present a concert, "French Passion," on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Carson City Community Center.
The concert features guest violinist Andrew Sords in a performance of Eduoard Lalo's "Symphonie espagnole." This all-French program, suitable for people of all ages, also includes Georges Bizet's "L'Arlesienne Suite No. 1" and Gabriel Faure's "Dolly Suite."
Pre-concert entertainment begins at 3 p.m. in the lobby and a Meet-the-Soloist preview begins at 3:15 p.m. in the Sierra Room.

Winter arrives just in time for Thanksgiving as the Arlington Square Ice Skating Rink opens for the season with daily skate sessions from Nov. 24 - Jan. 22. Group rates and multi-use punch cards provide savings to ice enthusiasts.

Carson City Symphony presents Halloween and Harmonicas

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by David Bugli, leads into Nevada Day with a special concert, Halloween and Harmonicas, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Strings in the Schools concert features Carson City violinists

Young violinists join concertmaster and instructor Sue Kitts of the Carson City Symphony on Thursday to present “Strings in the Schools” at Sierra Place, 1111 W. College Parkway in Carson City. The concert begins at 10 a.m. and features students in the Carson City School District who will perform violin music. Call (775) 841-4111.

Pianist delivers benefit performance at Brewery Arts Center

Pianist Dr. Ron Williams performed the 50th Anniversary Recital of Toccatas and Sonatas Thursday night at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall.

The event was put on as a fundraiser for Carson City Symphony’s String for the School Program. More than fifty people attended, ranging from children to seniors.

The Recital featured songs written and originally played by J.S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, Paradisi, Haydn, Schumann, Beethoven and Ravel.

Williams was accompanied by his wife Genevieve Williams, who also assisted him while he was performing.

The beautiful back lawn of the Governor's Mansion is the site of the Carson City Symphony's 26th annual "Pops Party" concert on Sunday, June 13. The program features the Carson City Symphony directed by David Bugli, Carson Chamber Singers directed by Judy Monson, Strings in the Schools youth orchestra directed by Sue Kitts, and guest vocalists Gary Aldrich and Olivia Hakel.

Join Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools students in a public Contradance, 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive.
Learn the steps to the jig, reel, and waltz. Dance to live music with the students and leaders Sue Kitts, Chris Bayer, Steve Suwe, and Gary Lyon. Admission is free and all are welcome.
