Heading into Christmas Eve, activities around the capital city are winding down, but the last minute shopping will continue, so prepare for that rush on the roadways and at local stores. It is the last day of the Holiday Craft Show at Carson Mall, so stop on by. There are no planned Muscle Powered fitness events scheduled. Christmas Eve church services are at First Presbyterian Church in Carson City and other places of worship around town. Here's what's ahead Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019.

Carson City deputies arrest motorcycle rider for alleged unsafe driving, weapon violation

A 33-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested in the area of South Carson Street for misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and carless driving after riding a motorcycle unsafely, causing other vehicles on the roadway to slow and alter their direction of travel, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

Plan to Narrow South Carson Street (opinion)

Despite our increasing population and existing traffic congestion, the City has plans for a road diet on South Carson Street. What does that mean? In this case, it means reducing the street from six lanes to four from Appion Way to 8th Street, with an additional reduction to one northbound lane north of 8th.

South Carson Street project design finished, bidding process to begin

The South Carson Street project design is complete. The project team is pleased to announce the completion of the project design after nearly a year of design progression since the initial public kick-off meeting on December 11, 2018. Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for allegedly shoplifting more than $400 in merchandise

A 38-year-old Mound House woman was arrested Wednesday, in the 1400 block of South Carson Street, for misdemeanor suspicion petit larceny and gross misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a business where a store manager alerted to a woman wearing several coats who had fled the store after stealing several items of merchandise.

Carson City neighborhood has experienced flooding for 50 years, a solution is now in sight

A 50-year-old flooding issue in a Carson City neighborhood could finally see a solution with the “North Carson Area Drainage Plan” proposed by Carson City Public Works.

According to Robert Fellows, P.E., Chief Stormwater Engineer for Public Works, an issue involving flooding or “ponding” in a particular Carson City neighborhood has been on the books as an issue since Carson City was still Ormsby County, going back to the 1970s.

Carson City emergency crews called crashes on I-580 near Fairview, South Carson and on Clearview

UPDATE 7PM: According to NHP, there were two crashes that happened this evening in the area of I-580 and Fairview, northbound lane just after 5:30 p.m. Both crashes were non-injury, however, northbound I-580 was closed briefly. It was re-opened at around 7 p.m. Meanwhile, CCSO reports separate crashes that happened later, just after 6 p.m. One in the 4300 block of South Carson and the other, off of Clearview. Both crashes were non-injury but did affected traffic. The cause of all the crashes are under investigation.

A 24-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was arrested Tuesday in the 1400 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, a Carson City sheriff's arrest report states.
