Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. The Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed Thursday to accept the 90 percent design phase of the South Carson Street roundabout project following a presentation led by the city's chief engineer and comments from the public.

On Wednesday evening, the project was presented to the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission by chief engineer Dan Stucky. To date there have been 18 public meetings on this project.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Two Carson City Detention Center inmates were booked early Tuesday for suspicion of felony drug possession after an investigation by jail staff.

On Monday evening, Carson City deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a Wells Fargo ATM located in the 2400 block of South Carson Street.

Several media outlets have reported the purple-clad bandits made off with $200,000 in cash, which had been confirmed by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Flavors of India restaurant in Carson City will host a fundraiser Saturday for a local barber who was critically injured in a vehicle accident last month.

UPDATE 8:23PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has released surveillance of the strong arm robbery on Monday evening at Wells Fargo on South Carson Street. See the footage here and here. There are 3 suspects, described as possibly black males, wearing purple hoodies, according to a Carson City sheriff's detective.

UPDATE 7:28PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said detectives are preparing to review video surveillance of the strong arm robbery at a South Carson Street ATM. It is believed more than one person was involved. The victim was not injured. Surrounding law enforcement agencies have been notified.

Carson City Fire Department was called Thursday morning to a small fire at Save Mart grocery store on South Carson Street.

A 29-year-old transient was arrested for allegedly robbing a Carson City convenience store early Thursday morning, a sheriff's deputy report said.

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony evading, eluding arrest and other alleged offenses after a low-speed vehicle pursuit, a sheriff's arrest report states.
