Carson Mall, 1223 South Carson Street, in Carson City will host a series of Valentine events, Feb. 12-16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The mall will feature vendors, free Valentine Photos by Magical Moments, and chocolate dipped strawberries.

From Feb. 12 through Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visit inside the mall and make a Valentine for a loved one. Then, make another Valentine for a Senior that will be delivered to local retirement homes.

On Feb. 15 Carson Mall will host Family Bingo Night. Proceeds will benefit Carson High School’s Safe and Sober Grad Night.

With some clouds, sunshine and a weekend warmup ahead, going into the last Thursday of January brings a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, library activities, Pilates at the Brewery Arts Center, a South Carson Street pre-construction meeting at the Carson City Community Center that will be streamed live by going here. Heading into the middle of the work week and the final three of January, the capital city can expect a slight cool down weather wise with some sunshine and clouds. Events Wednesday include art showings, music, Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Heading into Tuesday, activities around the capital city area include a meeting of the Carson City School Board, a gathering of the Carson City Toastmasters at Max Casino, a free presentation in Gardnerville that focuses on understanding Alzheimer's and dementia, plus a showing of the documentary about social media, "Like" in Reno, art exhibitions, and more.

The South Carson Complete Streets Project design is complete, Carson City Public Works and the project contractor, Sierra Nevada Construction, Inc., will be hosting a pre-construction meeting to present the anticipated construction schedule and the completed project design.

During the annual “State of the City” address Friday at Gold Dust West, Carson City’s Mayor Bob Crowell gave his last speech of its kind, as he is retiring at the end of this year.

The State of the City address is a way community members can be kept up to date on everything going on in our capital city, including achievements, challenges, and everything in between.

A Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery after an alleged physical confrontation regarding a teen's poor grades in school, a sheriff's deputy report states.

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday in the 5600 block of South Carson Street for two misdemeanor counts probation violation.

A 37-year-old man who was a suspect in numerous business thefts in Carson City and Reno was taken into custody Monday following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase that led officers to his capture and a stolen truck used in the suspected burglaries, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.

UPDATE 605PM: A male suspect was taken into custody Monday evening following a pursuit that led to a stolen vehicle that was apparently used in a series of alleged theft crimes that happened between Carson City and Reno, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said. A pursuit led to a foot chase in the area of Airport and Carmine and a suspect was taken into custody. The stolen vehicle, reported as a white pickup, which had a distinctive lumber rack and tool box, was recovered. A suspect, who was hiding in a trash can, is in custody.

UPDATE 2:12PM: A suspect in theft crimes in Carson City apparently struck at a Home Depot in Reno, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. The incidents happened on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 1 a.m. and Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 a.m. The suspect allegedly stole tool boxes and snowblowers from the Reno store. Scroll and click on photos to enlarge.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying suspects in two separate incidents involving burglary and grand larceny theft.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Monday morning to a vehicle crash in the area of South Carson Street and Koontz Lane.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify suspects in a theft of a wallet and use of stolen credit cards. On Dec. 7 2019, a victim reported her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at Raley’s grocery store at 3701 South Carson Street in Carson City.
