Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 11/17/2016 - 6:44pmUPDATE FRIDAY, 2:49PM: Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Duncan Dauber said Thursday night's fatal pedestrian crash involving a 61-year-old Carson City woman remains under investigation.
The licensed driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the accident, a female in her 20s from Carson City, is not being investigated for impairment, said Dauber.
The preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Robinson Street making a left hand turn to go north on Stewart when she struck the pedestrian who was outside the crosswalk on the northbound side. The pedestrian was crossing the street from east to west, said Dauber.

He practiced at a Kuwaiti military base, while wearing his kilt, sporran, dress shoes and other traditional Highland dress. He remembers one particular day when a large group of U.S. Marines swarmed around him to listen. Normally, that's when he hears, "What's under your kilt, har har?"

Two vehicle crash ties up traffic at Fifth and Curry streets

The vehicles involved are a Jeep Patriot and a Nissan Pathfinder. The crash was reported at around 3:20 p.m. A female was injured and taken by ground ambulance to the hospital, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
Carson City Sheriff: Suspect in custody, victim seriously injured in King Street apartment stabbing
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 10/12/2016 - 5:40pmUPDATE 11:01PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has identified Kenneth Paz, 38, as the suspect involved in the Wednesday night stabbing at a King Street apartment. Paz had allegedly gotten into fight as the victim’s daughter was moving out of her apartment and stabbed the male victim. He was arrested at the scene without incident and charged with battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held in the Carson City Jail with a $30,000 bail.

The vehicles involved were a 2007 Toyota Highlander, a 1996 Ford Windstar, a 2003 Buick Regal and a 1998 Peterbilt commercial truck.

During the conference held in Las Vegas, Sgt. McDaniel — a law officer for nearly 35 years — was awarded Outstanding Joining Forces Coordinator of the Year for the state of Nevada, one of five different awards presented at the gathering.

The accident happened at the intersection of Mountain and Long streets, where the driver in a sedan ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, causing her car to then hit another vehicle, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Bill Richards. No other injuries were reported. The driver of the car was briefly trapped inside the vehicle. Her condition is unknown at this time.

On Sept. 6, 2011, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, were killed in the shooting.

On Sept. 6, 2011, Nevada Guardsmen Lt. Col. Heath Kelly, 35, Master Sgt. Christian Riege, 38, Sgt. 1st Class Miranda McElhiney, 31, and civilian Florence Donovan-Gunderson, 67, of South Lake Tahoe, were killed in the shooting rampage, in which a mentally ill gunman took his own life. A person who recognized a Honda he had recently seen posted to Facebook as being stolen discovered the vehicle Monday night across from a McDonald's drive-thru and called 911 to report it, resulting in the arrest of a person of interest for attempted homicide, a Carson City sheriff's sergeant said.

Tri-Net: Drug task force breaks up huge Carson City meth supplier ring

Arrest warrants were executed in Carson City and the Bakersfield, California area. During the investigation, a decade long Mexican drug trafficking organization was dismantled in Carson City, according to Sgt. Dan Johnson, Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division of the Tri-Net Narcotic Task Force.

Anthony Thomas Garcia, 56, was arrested July 28 by Newport Beach Police Department detectives in Carson City. He is awaiting extradition to California to face a charge of murder with enhancement for financial gain.
