Two Carson City women were arrested Saturday afternoon on felony drug trafficking charges after 28 grams of methamphetamine was discovered in a vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant said.

The California Highway Patrol has found the vehicle of a Lake Tahoe woman reported missing and who has not been seen since Feb. 15, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to an injury accident on the I-580 freeway, between College Parkway and Arrowhead.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Lake Tahoe woman who has not been seen or heard from since Monday, Feb. 15 and is asking the public's help in locating her.

A 77-year-old Wisconsin woman died Tuesday morning in a ski accident at Heavenly Mountain Resort, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Kathryn Strangman of Madison died of injuries after ski patrol had attempted CPR at Heavenly's Boulder Lodge on the Nevada side. She had struck a tree while skiing, said DCSO Sgt. Pat Brooks. The sheriff's office was contacted at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday.

An autopsy is scheduled and the accident is under investigation.

UPDATE 9:42PM: Carson City fire and rescue crews have cleared the scene and Highway 50 East is now open in both directions, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Carson City fire department and sheriff's deputies were called to a two vehicle crash Friday night at Highway 50 East and Deer Run Road. The crash, involving two pickups, was reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. Arriving Carson City firefighters report there were no injuries.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office along with other law enforcement agencies throughout Nevada will be participating in Joining Forces through the month of February. The focus will be speeding drivers.

UPDATE: 11:48PM: At least one person inside an apartment was injured after being struck by a vehicle the caused a gas leak in the 600 block of Old Hot Spring Road. The crash forced the evacuation of 15 to 20 people before the broken gas lines were sealed.
The male adult victim was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

UPDATE: The crash at Sherman and Lompa involves two vehicles, a black Chrysler and a white Dodge pickup. Two children and an adult have been taken to the hospital for injuries, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel. Traffic is being directed from Sherman onto Nye street.

Carson City sheriff's deputies and Carson City Fire Department are responding Wednesday night to a head-on crash with injuries at the intersection of Lompa and Sherman. The call came into dispatch at 6:55 p.m.

UPDATE 3:51PM: Five were arrested early Tuesday in connection with a drug trafficking operation at a Woodside Drive apartment in east Carson City. The men were booked into Carson City jail on multiple felony charges. According to Carson City Jail booking, the following were arrested:

A winter storm with an atmospheric river is on its way and should last through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. There is a Wind Advisory in effect until 10 p.m. for the Carson City area.

With winter weather again coming to the Carson City area and the expectation of wind, rain and snow, chances are the storm will lead to hazardous driving conditions. This in turn can lead to car crashes. Planning ahead will help prevent these crashes. Slow down, leave early and drive with care.

UPDATE: A 61-year-old Minden man was arrested Friday for misdemeanor hit and run and DUI near South Carson Street and Koontz Lane. The suspect hit an unoccupied park car and several pylons in the street before coming to a stop, facing traffic, in the middle of Carson Street. Bail: $1,500.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called Friday night to a vehicle crash that began on North Carson Street as a hit and run and ended in the 3300 block of South Carson Street.

Douglas County authorities were called Wednesday afternoon after a suspicious device, thought to be a stick of dynamite, turned out to be a smoke grenade.

Excuses, when it comes to individuals being stopped for speeding, we hear a lot of them. Here are a few:

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called Saturday night to Raley's in the 3700 block of South Carson Street for a robbery. The suspect pulled a 3 to 4 inch knife on store security at around 8:40 p.m. as they were leaving the store with merchandise, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

A day after search and rescue teams in Douglas County went through backcountry training on the east slope of the Carson Range via Heavenly Mountain Resort, members put their lessons into action with a lost skier reported in the same area on Sunday.

Driving during wet, snowy and icy conditions requires a reduction in speed and an increase in distance between vehicles to help prevent car crashes. Operating a four wheel drive vehicle is not a license to drive faster than other vehicles around you as you will always be subject to Mother Nature and the laws of physics.

A band of around a dozen wild horses makes its way onto Bowers Lane in northeast Carson City this morning.

In these photos taken by Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel, the horses typically stay around the hillside and into Lyon and Storey counties but were crossing the area near Arrowhead and Bowers. Motorists should be cautious traveling through the area.

Douglas and Lyon County law enforcement agencies and the Nevada Highway Patrol will step up traffic enforcement in both counties beginning this week as part of the first Joining Forces effort of the new year, officials said Monday.

There seems to be some confusion in regards to pulling over for emergency vehicles. I recently spoke with an individual who informed me that they did not have to pull over and stop for law enforcement vehicles, only for fire engines and ambulances.

The celebratory crowd at the casino core at south shore Lake Tahoe was once again light compared to previous years with anywhere between 5,000-10,000 revelers. Of those, 18 people were arrested in the casino core area of Stateline during the evening, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.

April Torres, the 34-year-old woman reported missing in the Stateline area was found by Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue on Thursday afternoon.

Two people were found late Thursday morning after they had became stranded off Brunswick Canyon Road in east Carson City late Wednesday night when their vehicle slid off the road, according to Sgt. Mike Cullen of the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

A South Lake Tahoe man was issued a citation Saturday for skiing out of bounds at Heavenly Mountain Resort after a search and rescue was deployed when he was reported missing.

The man was found safe and not hurt at 8:52 p.m. Saturday after he was reported missing late that afternoon, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office late that afternoon, said Sgt. Pat Brooks.
