Carson City Off-Road day two: Capital 50, 35 Backcountry Rides converge to state capital

The Capital 35 and Capital 50 Backcountry Rides explored Northern Nevada's beautiful landscape, passing through Lake Tahoe, Washoe Valley and Carson Valley along the way.

NDOT announces overnight road closures for State Route 28 June 17 - 18
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 06/06/2019 - 1:54pmOvernight road closures will take place on State Route 28 south of Incline Village June 17 and 18 as the Nevada Department of Transportation places final roadway striping as part of installation of the State Route 28 shared used path.
Both directions of SR 28 will be closed between Lakeshore Boulevard in southern Incline Village and the U.S. 50 junction from 8 p.m.-6:30 a.m. nightly June 17 and 18 as final roadway striping is placed on the highway.
Carson Valley prepares for potential spring flooding, urges residents to be 'flood ready'

With the spring run-off, citizens could expect to see some road closures on arterial roads such as Mottsville, Centerville Lane, Muller Lane and Genoa Lane.

Final season of path construction along State Route 28 at Tahoe begins this month

Project completion is anticipated for early July and will be announced prior to opening.

Gusty winds prompt advisory for Carson City region, Sierra under winter storm warning

Power outages in Carson City, high winds close Washoe Valley to all vehicles over 9 feet

Meanwhile, wind gusts flipped two vehicles on I-580 north of Carson City in Washoe Valley late Monday morning causing some traffic delays.

Storms bring water to roadways, minor flooding in Douglas County

We have also seen water and minor debris on the roadways in many areas. Douglas County Emergency Management continues to survey the area along with Douglas County road crews and law enforcement.
Douglas County prepares for potential flooding, high winds with approaching winter storm

A storm is coming Wednesday and Thursday which could potentially cause flooding for snow-clogged drainage areas, poor drainage areas, and small streams below 6000 feet, however no rivers have been predicted to flood at this time.
Road closures, travel restrictions on area roads Sunday morning
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sun, 02/10/2019 - 9:59amHeavy snow fell overnight in the Carson City area, resulting in more chain and traction tire requirements on local roads.
Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.
Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.

Carson City area weather: Storms lined up to bring rain and snow to Sierra and lower valleys
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 01/14/2019 - 8:09amUPDATE MONDAY: A series of storms will move through the region this week with the strongest storm impacting the region late Wednesday through Thursday. Several feet of snow are possible above 8,000 feet with up to 2 feet of accumulation down to 6,000 feet in the Sierra. Periods of rain and snow are expected in the lower elevations of northeast California and western Nevada Wednesday through Thursday.
