Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents 'Suddenly' with Frank Sinatra

"Suddenly" is a 1954 film-noir, featuring Frank Sinatra in a surprising role, shaking up the tranquility of a small town.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is a group of classic movie fans who present a film, released prior to 1970, on the first Tuesday of each month, at Red's Old 395 Grill. Our mission is to raise funds to help provide tools to our youth who wish to study the arts, but may be in need of resources.

Classic Cinema Club presents Plan 9 from Outer Space

This 1956 Cult Classic is one of the campiest retro Sci-Fi B-films ever made. Produced by deliciously inept genius, Ed Wood, and featuring Bela Lugosi's last role, the film is thoroughly entertaining.

Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart, and Cheech Marin get to claim the day as their birthday. So does Cameron Crowe: screenwriter of movie favorites like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, and Jerry Maquire. Speaking of Hollywood, make sure to get your tickets to the Carson City Classic Cinema Club’s First Annual Hollywood Gala Dinner and Fundraiser coming up on Saturday. Bikes, and cars, and brews: oh my! Downtown Carson is awash in activity on Saturday. Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly features the Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, vendors, a brewfest, moustache competition and more. The Karson Kruzers are hosting their annual car show at Fuji Park, but will be making their way downtown after it’s over, so there will be plenty of cool cars to admire. Mojo Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and you can head into the Carson Cigar Company to enjoy Reno’s newest Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Scarlett Moon at 9 p.m.

The Carson City Historical Society will be having its General Membership Meeting on Sunday, June 28, 2015, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City. The meeting will be in the private room at the northwest corner of the building. Jeffrey M. Kintop, State Archivist at the Nevada State Library and Archives, will discuss the 50th anniversary of the State Archives. Appointed State Archivist July 1, 2009, Kintop has worked at the Nevada State Library and Archives for 32 years.

Carson City Historical Society's Garden Tour features amazing treasure of local landscaping

The Carson City Historical Society's 2015 annual garden tour took place Saturday where guests were able to walk or drive through Carson City and view magnificent homes and gardens. It was clear along the tour that those participating put an extraordinary amount of time and creative effort into their gardens and homes.

The weather app on my phone says that it’s supposed to be a sunny weekend hitting a high around 91 degrees. That sounds like summer to me! Get out and enjoy our valley and the surrounding towns, there will be plenty of good times. Carson Valley Days has begun in our neighbor to the south, complete with carnival at Lampe Park. Tonight, welcome a new exhibit in the CCAI Gallery at the Courthouse: a reception for the artists of ‘Industrial Arts’ begins at 5 p.m. Meet the Journey of Hope bike riders at Western Nevada College; plenty of activities for everyone.

Memorial Day, May 25: Things to do around Carson City

Honoring our services members is the theme of this weekend, and there will be a ceremony at Lone Mountain Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Monday.
Current and retired military and their significant others can indulge in a complementary soak at the Carson Hot Springs. Empire Ranch Golf Course is offering a free round of golf with a military I.D., in addition to other specials.
Evergreen Gene’s on North Carson Street hosts their annual picnic on Monday: hamburgers and hot dogs for all.

It’s a Railroad kind of weekend in Carson City. The historic 1885 Glenbrook Steam Engine will be on display Saturday, all steamed up with the Inyo at the Nevada Railroad Museum. You will want to arrive before the dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. to get the best photos. The V and T Steam Engine #25 will be running all weekend if you want to take a ride. It’s also opening weekend for the Virginia and Truckee that departs from the Eastgate Depot for Virginia City. Roundtrips sell out fast, so make sure to get a reservation if you want to go.

Hundreds of hungry Nevada Day parade revelers lined up early Saturday morning at Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City for the 15th annual Nevada Day Pancake Breakfast hosted by Builders Alliance of Western Nevada, also known as BAWN.

The event runs through 10 a.m. and features a full line pancake breakfast, sausage and bacon. The annual breakfast benefits the BAWN Women’s Council and their philanthropic endeavors.

Carson City Symphony presents Oct. 26 'A Nevada 150 Concert'

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will open its 31st season Sunday, Oct. 26 with "A Nevada 150 Concert" at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater.

The concert includes the Carson City Symphony Chorus directed by Michael Langham, and featured guest artists McAvoy Layne as Mark Twain, poet Shaun Griffin, Native American singer Christina Thomas, and readers Rita Geil and Christina Van Geel. The program begins at 4 p.m.

Carson Tahoe's 'Think Pink' fundraiser draws more than 300 to Red's Old 395 Grill

Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center hosted its "Think Pink" event Wednesday at Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City. More than 300 people attended the free kick off event to empower women to take control of their health and get their regular mammograms. Individuals who purchased a "Think Pink" pink t-shirt enjoyed free appetizers courtesy of Red's Old 395 Grill and 100 percent of proceeds from bar sales, raffle ticket sales and t-shirt sales went to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center for breast cancer education and support.

Carson Now goes to China: Travel Club Meeting this Wednesday

Carson ATA Martial Arts Car Wash - Donations Benefit Scholarships

Carson Tahoe’s twelfth annual Think Pink campaign kicks off on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month. Red’s Old 395 Grill will once again host the event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Carson City.

The event is free and anyone wearing their Think Pink T-shirt will receive free appetizers. All proceeds from the Think Pink bar and raffle go to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center for cancer education and support.

Food For Thought would like to think all the people who came out and supported us at our Saddle Up For Kids Events. Friday, June 28th’s dinner at the Governor’s Mansion and Saturday, June 29th’s Carnival at Mills Park wouldn’t have been as successful if not for our volunteers!
