Ahead Tuesday include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, a "haunted" cemetery tour at Lone Mountain, a business networking meeting at Casino Fandango and the Fat Tuesday business networking group at Carson Nugget, archery at Centennial Park and more. Sunday will bring cool temperatures and some sunshine with daytime highs in the mid 60s around the capital city region. Lined up today are fall train rides in Carson City and Virginia City, a women veteran's support group meeting, and a a discussion with survivors, family and doctors about metastatic breast cancer. Also today, the Carson City Symphony will open its 36th season at the community center. Enjoy.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. Events include Harvest Train festivities at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Thomas the Tank Engine and steam train rides in Virginia City, the first-ever Gandy Dance in Dayton, October Ghost Walk Tours through downtown Carson City and more!

Going into the final stretch of the work week Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 will bring cool conditions, a slight chance of rain and some sunshine. Activities around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a Muscle Powered hike at Silver Saddle Ranch, a rally at the legislative building, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. The Carson City Fair has been steadily growing and coming into its own the last few years, and has now decided to form an independent non-profit organization dedicated to continuing their work.

Heading into Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, it will be a busy day ahead around the capital city including a Carson City Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Nevada's chief economist, a GOP Women's Club luncheon with Nevada State Senator James Settelmeyer, Sierra Lutheran will host its 7th and 8th Grade Visitation Day, plus a morning walk, evening hike with Muscle Powered, archery at Centennial Park, art night at the library and more. Child welfare can feel like a cold place for families in crisis.
Though efforts have been made through the years to improve this perception, child welfare is still a system of laws that, by their very nature, are unfeeling.
